About the role
The Finance Analyst will play a key role in finance business partnering to our Perth Energy business unit. This role will focus on the delivery of month-end reporting processes, including gross margin, operating costs and balance sheet items; as well as supporting continuous improvement across Finance systems and processes.

What you’ll be doing

  • Play key support role as business partner to respective Perth Energy and Decarbonisation & Customer Strategy LT function and their teams.
  • Promote a cost-conscious and cash-conscious culture within the business unit, and support delivery of cost saving or working capital initiatives.
  • Perform month-end close process to a high standard and in a timely and efficient manner.
  • Prepare balance sheet reconciliations as part of the month-end close, as well as the quarterly balance sheet review process.
  • Prepare the business unit management performance reporting.
  • Provide insights on business performance against strategy through variance analysis and commentary.
  • Identify ongoing risks & opportunities that need to be managed.
  • Play key role in delivering the forecasting process from collection of inputs, navigation of interdependencies and preparation of outputs to stakeholder buy-in.
  • Assist with the review and challenge of budgets, reforecasts and 4-year plans, including P&L, balance sheet and cashflow, along with underlying assumption booklet.
  • Identify and recommend initiatives to improve financial performance, including identification and analysis of opportunities and risks.
  • Assist with collating outputs to achieve buy-in from business unit leadership teams, including reviewing key assumptions, the drivers for variances and sensitivities.
  • Own budget, forecast and 4-Year plan consolidation and SAP loading process.
  • Prepare analysis and commentary for business unit inputs to external reporting, including results packs and operating and financial reviews.
  • Provide support for judgmental audit issues with external auditors.
  • Provide input and analysis into annual impairment testing.
  • Deliver continuous improvement initiatives in both process and system.Proactively support change as new systems and processes are rolled out.

What you’ll bring

  • CA/CPA/ACA/MBA qualified
  • Strong experience with month-end close and finance planning process (Energy/Gas industry highly desired)
  • Advanced user of a Finance module of ERP (preferably SAP)
  • Advanced user of MS office tools (Excel, PowerPoint, Word)
  • Ability to present complex data/concepts in a clear and easily understood manner.
  • Ability to manage complex projects with multiple resources
