    The Department of Justice and Community Safety is seeking a Finance Analyst to provide a critical role within Offender Services, Prison Industries.

QUALIFICATIONS/REQUIREMENTS

  • An appropriate tertiary qualification in Financial Analysis, Accounting, or Commerce along with demonstrated data analysis experience is desirable.
Responsibilities

ABOUT THE ROLE

Reporting to the Finance Manager, the Financial Analyst ensures accurate financial data and reporting across all Prison Industries commodities. They are responsible for maintaining clean, consistent, and reliable financial data to support decision-making.
The Finance Analyst is also responsible for, delivering precise financial reports and interpreting key insights for stakeholders including Industry Managers, Business Development Managers and Prison Industries Senior Leadership Team. Additionally, they provide strategic financial advice, key system and Oracle inputs (e.g. ensuring actual expenses are correctly acquitted) and seek to continuously improve financial practices while training Prison Industry staff on best financial methods to enhance overall effectiveness.

Some of your duties will include:

  • Provide financial leadership and advice that is clear for all stakeholders across Prison Industries on the utilisation of all systems and processes in place, contribute to the design of new systems and reporting as required, along with enabling the use of data analysis for sound business decisions.
  • Perform data cleansing and maintain timely updates for month-end financial processes, making sure costs are reflected in the correct account codes and dates for effective financial tracking.
  • Monitor industry trends and provide strategic advice on initiatives that align with the CVPI Strategic Plan.

To be successful in this role, you will have:

  • Experience in financial oversight and manufacturing reporting in government or large business, with ability to interpret data, analyse trends, and keep stakeholders informed about current financial position.
  • Demonstrated knowledge and experience with information technology systems, including Oracle, Axiom, Word, Excel and PowerPoint.
  • Demonstrated knowledge and experience with Oracle (or similar ERP system) manufacturing modules, including Manufacturing, Inventory, Engineering (costing) and Axiom (desirable)
