Responsibilities

ROLE OVERVIEW

The Finance and Impact Associate (Consultant) will play a pivotal role in supporting the design, structuring, and financing of MDF’s initiatives. This is a unique opportunity to work at the intersection of philanthropy, investment, and development finance.
The Associate will support financial modelling, fundraising, investor engagement, and governance processes, while ensuring alignment with MDF’s charitable mission and programmatic work.
The ideal candidate is a finance professional with a strong interest in impact investing and global development, eager to contribute to the launch of a landmark philanthropic-finance initiative.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Support the design and structuring of MDF’s financing models.
  • Develop financial models, cashflow projections, and capital allocation strategies.
  • Contribute to governance, compliance, and reporting frameworks for investors and donors.
  • Prepare pitch materials, investor presentations, and due diligence packs.
  • Conduct research on prospective investors, DFIs, foundations, and development partners.
  • Support engagement with external advisors, legal teams, and banking partners.
  • Ensure that investments and returns are aligned with MDF’s philanthropic objectives.
  • Support the development of impact measurement frameworks.
  • Produce reporting and analysis that demonstrate financial performance alongside social impact.
  • Provide project management support across MDF’s organisational initiatives.
  • Support the implementation, monitoring, and financing of MDF programmes across Africa, including maternal and newborn health, education, and nutrition initiatives.
  • Draft internal and external reports, memos, and communications for stakeholders, partners, and donors.
  • Assist with organising and participating in events, workshops, board or advisory meetings.
  • Represent MDF at relevant stakeholder engagements — international travel to conferences and meetings may be required.
