We’re proud to be supporting University students by offering the chance to join us for a 12-month placement. You will have the opportunity to choose between Financial Reporting and Tax, whilst also gaining exposure in other areas of finance. Our roles are based in our specialist finance and technology hub in Branston, Burton on Trent. Your day to day Financial Reporting This role will primarily be assisting the various Regional Financial Reporting teams, with the opportunity to also work with the Group Financial Reporting and Treasury teams. Prepare various monthly accounting reviews for the Americas and EMEA regions for management review and control compliance Assist with monthly and quarterly reporting through running reports and trial balances Assist in the production of UK statutory accounts and applying iXBRL tagging information for filing with HMRC Assist the Financial Reporting team in preparing Group Financial Statements section of the IHG Annual Report and Form 20-F accounts Complete user access reviews on various systems Assist the Treasury team in various treasury tasks such as bank reconciliations, banking access reviews and exposure reports Assistance in ad-hoc global projects work Tax This role will be spent within the Tax department. Assistance in global projects driven by business needs, for example, hotel openings in new tax jurisdictions, entity eliminations, responding to tax authority enquiries etc Production of profit forecasts to help produce tax forecasts and disclosures for inclusion within the group’s interim results Assistance in the review and preparation of UK corporation tax returns Assist the Tax team in preparing tax sections of the IHG Annual Report and Form 20-F accounts Preparation of tax disclosures to be incorporated within UK statutory accounts Assistance with Transfer Pricing documentation, including research and analysis of company transactions, macroeconomic and industry trends. Assistance with withholding tax compliance and documentation Assistance with various aspects of VAT and employment tax We’ll also provide you with full training in our financial software and databases. Experience financial thinking on a global scale, as you support work that informs our biggest decisions. What we need from you You will currently be studying a Finance, Accountancy/Economics or Banking Degree and be looking for a role in finance for your placement year. You will be committed to a career in Finance. Excellent communication skills are key in this role, alongside initiative and enthusiasm. You will be able to commit to our hybrid working model ( which entails 3 days a week in the office in our Branston on office in Burton upon Trent) What’s next? It’s time to send us your application!
