Responsibilities

ROLE OVERVIEW:

As a Finance Apprentice with 54, you’ll join our busy Finance team in Wimbledon and receive structured on‑the‑job training to become a qualified Accounts professional. Reporting to the Accounts Payable Manager, you’ll primarily learn how to manage supplier invoices, payments, reconciliations, and month‑end processes, but will also spend time with each finance department all while working towards an industry‑recognized qualification (e.g. AAT/ACCA).

KEY ROLES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Learn and follow company policies for invoice authorisation and posting
  • Process multicurrency supplier invoices and staff expense claims
  • Apply correct VAT treatments and code transactions accurately
  • Reconcile supplier statements and support BACS payment run preparation
  • Post bank transactions and reconcile bank accounts at month end
  • Respond to supplier and internal finance queries via shared inbox
  • Assist with onboarding new vendors, including compliance checks
  • Support journal entry preparation, posting, and purchase order creation
  • Help implement and test new finance systems and controls
  • Maintain accurate records to ensure audit readiness
    Contribute to ad‑hoc accounts payable projects and process improvements
