Responsibilities

We are looking to recruit an enthusiastic, reliable, driven, and hardworking Finance Apprentice to join our Finance & Business Efficiency Team. The role involves a 6-month rotation, assisting in the day-to-day financial activities within each area of the department to gain knowledge and understanding of how a Finance Department operates, with a view to progressing into several different possible career paths within a financial environment. You will develop the skills you need for the job by working alongside your colleagues and getting hands on experience.
You will be helped to build relationships with peers, allowing you to achieve your professional development objectives.

Duties to include but are not limited to:

  • Assist with the preparation of accurate and high quality monthly and quarterly reporting and forecasting
  • Assist with delivering annual budget setting process
  • Attend monthly and quarterly budget holder meetings as required.
  • Assist with the month end process including preparation of month end journals (including accruals and prepayments)
  • Ad hoc analysis of financial data
  • Assist with the audit and annual report processes
  • Undertake all aspect of balance sheet control and reconciliation processes
  • Support the shared service team with supplier invoices and query resolution when required
  • Provide support to the retained payroll process
  • Assist in audit dip sampling or records verification of staff expenses and procurement card’s expenditure.
  • Supporting billing and cash collection process and Treasury forecasting
  • Providing ad hoc support to the wider Finance team as and when needed

You will work as part of a large team, in a busy working environment. We are looking for somebody with strong interpersonal skills, excellent attention to detail, willingness to assist in all tasks, and who is happy to constantly learn and develop new skills and wants to forge their first steps into a Finance career. In order to meet the requirements of the training programmes you will be required to hold 5 GCSE’s including Maths (Minimum B or Grade 6) and English.
