We are seeking a proactive and confident Finance & Business Manager to take ownership of our financial operations and to play a key role in strengthening relationships with our partner organisations.

SKILLS & EXPERIENCE

  • Strong background in accounts, finance, or credit control.
  • Proficiency with Xero (experience with Pleo is desirable).
  • Proven ability to communicate confidently, firmly, and professionally with external finance teams.
  • Experience managing credit control and cash flow effectively.
  • Excellent organisational skills with strong attention to detail.
  • Ability to work independently, demonstrating accountability and ownership of financial operations.
Responsibilities

ROLE OVERVIEW

The Finance & Business Manager will oversee all day-to-day financial operations, ensuring invoices are submitted promptly, payments are chased effectively, and financial records remain accurate. This is a hands-on role that requires confidence in liaising with finance teams across schools and local authorities, maintaining professionalism while being firm in credit control to ensure timely payments.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Invoicing & Revenue Management
  • Raise and submit invoices through Xero at the start of each engagement.
  • Build and maintain strong working relationships with finance teams in schools and local authorities.
  • Proactively follow up on outstanding invoices, applying firm but professional credit control practices to secure timely payment.
  • Financial Operations & Oversight
  • Perform bank reconciliations to ensure accuracy of company financial records.
  • Reconcile staff expenditure submitted through Pleo, ensuring compliance with policy.
  • Provide regular updates to the leadership team on cash flow, outstanding debts, and the overall financial health of the company.
  • Stakeholder & Relationship Management
  • Serve as the first point of contact for financial queries from schools, local authorities, and suppliers.
  • Communicate confidently and assertively to resolve issues and ensure smooth financial transactions.
  • Process Improvement & Governance
  • Maintain robust and efficient financial processes.
  • Ensure all invoicing and expenditure records are accurate, compliant, and up to date.
  • Support the leadership team with financial insights to guide decision-making.
