About the Department & Team:

Finance in Liberty Specialty Markets (LSM) consists of circa 100 FTE and has a number of key roles:

  • To partner the business to enhance decision making with a focus on strategy, planning, analysis and reporting. Support is provided both to the management SBUs.
  • To ensure that all external financial reporting requirements (statutory, regulatory, tax, capital etc) are fulfilled. LSM consists of a Lloyd’s Syndicate, a European insurance company with UK and European branches, a number of small service companies and a portion of a US balance sheet.
  • To provide insightful performance analysis on the LSM legal entities to the Legal Entity Management Committees enabling effective performance planning and management.
  • To report to our US Parent on standard monthly requirements and ad-hoc requests on both a pillar and a legal basis.
  • To ensure superior management of our investments, cash and all financial risks.To give finance operations support to the business and finance.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Build and maintain key reporting packs across LMIE, being an SME on the underlying analysis and files
  • Build and maintain a strong working relationship with the Pillar finance teams ensuring all requirements pertaining to the performance management of the legal entity are accurately defined and communicated in a timely manner.
  • Develop a firm understanding of the legal entities and the lines of business written on the platform to ensure that monthly financial reporting is fully analysed, understood, challenged and explained the Head of FP&A and CFO as required
  • Assisting with the delivery of the legal entity plans; liaising with cross function stakeholders to ensure the completeness and accuracy of the business plan and complete a full review of the numbers ahead of submission to the Board where appropriate. Prepare Board and Management Committee packs including analysis and commentaries highlighting key messages.
  • Develop detailed knowledge of the performance of the lines of business and overall entity as a whole, ensuring the Europe General Manager is fully appraised of the entity result
  • Working closely with the pillar business partners to understand and obtain relevant commentary and rationale for P&L movements for LE MD&A pack.
  • Assist in establishing a working relationship with the Capital Modelling Team and LII and LMRe Group Planning Teams to ensure consistency of plan data where applicable and that deviations from SCR and SBU business plans are fully understood.
  • Establish an understanding of the Europe based employment entities, providing analysis as required..
  • Support with analysis on ad hoc tasks, projects and other initiatives, including within LII Europe.Adherence to all relevant regulatory requirements forms part of your role, and the demonstration of behaviours as set out in the Conduct Risk Policy, as they relate to your role, is core to LSM’s commitment to our Liberty Values, placing customers at the centre of our business and behaving with integrity. Skills and Experience:

  • ACA/ CIMA/ACCA qualified with relevant work experience, preferably in the same or similar role within insurance.
  • A working knowledge of insurance accounting and industry knowledge.
  • Highly analytical approach to work to complete detailed analysis with structured, robust approach to data manipulation, interpretation and present findings in a clear and simple manner.
  • Ability to consider a variety of data and information sources, approaches and possible outcomes for decision making.
  • Ability to ensure metrics and decisions are aligned to strategic priorities and supported by fact based quantitative and qualitative data, information and analytical thinking.
  • A strong communicator with good written and verbal communication skills.
  • Experience of operating in a multi-cultural environment, shows respect and understanding when interacting with individuals from diverse backgrounds, adapting working style to achieve collaboration and good working relationships.
  • Demonstrates strong problem-solving capability and the ability to independently work through and resolve issues as they arise.Minimum Intermediate MS Excel skills and experience with Microsoft BI, SAP and AnaPlan would be advantageous.
