POSITION OVERVIEW

This is a key role within the North America Finance team acting as a key business partner to the General Manager for Convatec Canada while reporting to Sr Director (Finance Business Partner) for AWC North America.
You are the primary interface into Finance for the business teams, providing insights, identifying new opportunities and driving business performance as you support the long-term strategy for the business. Your key accountability is to partner with your business partner(s) to drive commercial performance outcomes against plans, forecasts, and strategic objectives. This is an individual contributor role, which may or may not have line manager responsibilities. You will be a trusted and relied upon partner, respected for your commercial acumen and your ability to provide succinct but powerful storytelling, with actionable insight.
You will be the face of Finance for your business stakeholders, connecting them, where appropriate, with your finance colleagues within GBS or the wider Finance team to solve the problems that don’t fall within the accountabilities of the FBP e.g., statutory accounting, tax and controlling activities.
Within Finance, you are the business advocate, focusing beyond the finance boundaries and leading on cross-functional collaboration. Key is the overt ownership of relationships with multiple stakeholders, consistently building executive confidence by showing yourself to be an expert in the relevant market.

KEY REQUIREMENTS

  • 10-12 year of commercial finance business partner experience. MedTech or Life Science sector experience will be a plus.
  • Demonstrated experience of driving business turnarounds and/or return on commercial investments
  • Ability to develop effective relationships and maintain constructive communication across wide spectrum of internal stakeholders in a matrix environment.
  • Ability to see the “big picture”, with attention to detail where necessary.
  • Strong storytelling and networking capabilities.
  • Analytical ability to assess complex business cases and commercial agreements.
  • Working Knowledge of SAP, Hyperion and Power BI will be an added advantage.

QUALIFICATIONS/EDUCATION

  • Higher education in Business, Finance or Economics (desirable, but commercial experience will also be taken into consideration).
  • CPA (or equivalent accounting designation) will be an additional advantage.

Responsibilities
  • Partner with the business to drive sustainable and profitable growth, delivering against annual plans and strategic objectives.
  • Own annual operating plans (AOP), key forecast updates, as well as monthly business results reporting, analysis and storytelling.
  • Identify potential performance gaps and drive course correction through a balanced scorecard approach.
  • Drive strategic allocation of resources across channels and ways to improve commercial productivity.
  • Provide support on developing and tracking Investment initiatives and Product/Market launches. This includes development of business cases, and the post-event evaluation of investments.
  • Review commercial agreements and provide advice for commercial negotiations including pricing.
  • As a senior representative in the finance function with deep knowledge of the business, support our finance function to grow together by sharing knowledge, with a particular focus on building commercial acumen within our GBS teams.
