Finance Business Partner – Water NZ Location: Auckland, NZ Division: Energy & Utilities – Water NZ The opportunity Downer’s Energy & Utilities business is seeking a Finance Business Partner to join our Water NZ team. Reporting to the Head of Finance – Water NZ, you’ll work closely with project and operational leaders to provide trusted financial insights that shape decision-making and drive project success. This role is central to supporting major infrastructure projects, ensuring strong financial management, compliance, and commercial outcomes. You’ll be joining a collaborative finance team with exposure to high-profile water projects that make a real impact in communities across New Zealand. What you’ll do Partner with operational teams to deliver financial insights that support strategic and project outcomes. Lead project accounting activities including forecasting, budgeting, valuations, and WIP management. Develop accurate cashflow forecasts, manage receivables, and optimise cash inflows. Provide financial support on bids and tenders, ensuring commercial rigour and compliance. Deliver timely, accurate reporting and ensure audit and regulatory requirements are met. What we’re looking for Tertiary qualification in Accounting, Commerce, or related discipline. CPA or CA (or equivalent professional membership). 7+ years’ experience in financial/project accounting, ideally in construction or infrastructure. Strong analytical skills with advanced Excel and exposure to ERP/project systems (JDE, SAP, InEight, Jobpac, MS Dynamics). Excellent communication and stakeholder engagement skills, with the ability to partner effectively across all levels of the business.
