Description

Role: Finance Business Partner
Reporting to: Finance Director
Contract type: 9 - 12 month Fixed Term Contract (FTC)
Location: Malvern based at minimum 3 days a week

EXPERIENCE REQUIRED

  • 5+ years in a similar finance role, ideally within manufacturing, technology, or R&D environments.
  • Strong ERP system experience (Priority preferred).
  • Audit background beneficial.
  • Advanced Excel skills (modelling experience desirable).

ESSENTIAL SKILLS

  • Strong technical accounting knowledge and attention to detail.
  • Experience with inventory transactions and standard costing.
  • Understanding of R&D accounting and tax claim processes.
  • Ability to meet tight deadlines and manage competing priorities.
  • Strong analytical and communication skills.
  • Proactive, self-motivated, and collaborative approach.
  • Focus on continuous improvement and internal control.
  • Experience with PowerBI and other Data analysis & Management tools

DESIRABLE SKILLS

  • CIMA Preferred (ACA and ACCA also considered)
  • Proficient in MS Office (Outlook, Excel, Word, PowerPoint).
  • Business partnering experience in commercial or operational settings.
  • Familiarity with Lean processes and controllership.
  • Knowledge of international taxation and trading rules.
Responsibilities

This role is pivotal in maintaining financial integrity and enabling strategic decision-making across the business. As the primary contact for financial matters, you will lead on financial reporting, budget control, and process optimisation—ensuring visibility of actuals vs. budget, controlling spend, and reducing administrative burden across the function.

Financial Control & Compliance

  • Ensure robust accounting practices and financial integrity across the business.
  • Act as the main point of contact for financial information internally and externally (e.g. HMRC, auditors).
  • Lead month-end close activities: accruals, prepayments, inventory adjustments, and provisions.
  • Maintain the Fixed Asset Register and complete monthly balance sheet reconciliations.
  • Prepare and contribute to monthly management accounts (P&L and Balance Sheet).
  • Support Board reporting with clear variance analysis and narrative commentary.
  • Review and reconcile monthly payroll, liaising with third-party providers as needed.
  • Manage VAT returns, including reconciliations and timely submissions.
  • Lead year-end statutory and independent audits, including audit stocktake.
