Responsibilities

WHY THIS ROLE MATTERS

This is an important business partner role, reporting directly to one of the Senior Finance Business Partners for the Complex Engineering unit.
You will be accountable for c.900 head count and leading the relationship with the Director of the Complex Engineering desk team, along with support to other desk team Directors covering Programme Management, Resourcing & Innovation. Using your influencing skills and relationship with your Director you will play a key role in delivering the targets for the year, covering Capex, Opex, TLC and TLR. You will be accountable for c.£15m annually of external third party contractor spend across the desk teams.

WHAT YOU’LL BE DOING

  • Show financial accountability, control and stewardship over four separate teams totalling more than 900FTE and associated P&L.
  • Work with the team to provide insights and key reports, aligned to the FP&A strategy for the CFU / CU.
  • Business partner with customer team to provide financial insights to inform strategic decision making, and drive revenue performance.
  • Control headcount and P&L cost for the units covered.
  • Measure financial performance (both financial and operational) and drive successful outcomes against objectives.
  • Manage financial risks and opportunities for the unit.
  • Improve understanding and impact of financial reporting on performance of the business unit.
  • Drive the creation of quarterly forecasts and annual budget.
  • Links business strategy to financial reporting, KPIs, and goal setting in area of responsibility.
  • Continuously develops and shares with team knowledge on emerging trends and changes in financial planning principles and practices.
  • Considers risk, regulation and uncertainty in short-term decisions and ensures that risks are identified and managed, by establishing clear accountabilities and supporting an appropriate risk culture and control environment.
  • Implements continuous improvement opportunities to enhance the efficiency and accuracy of financial planning processes and to resolve data issues impacting productivity and compliance.
