Description

Our client needs a Finance Commercial Director. This is a pivotal senior role requiring a dynamic and experienced professional to oversee key functions within their organisation. Reporting directly to the Chief Executive, you will be responsible for the strategic direction and operational management of Finance, IT, and the Project delivery technical team. You will also deputise for the Chief Executive when required. This multi-faceted position is crucial to their continued financial stability, operational efficiency, and strategic growth.

SKILLS AND EXPERIENCE:

  • Fully qualified accountant (ACA, ACCA, CIMA or equivalent).
  • Strong commercial acumen with extensive experience in both management and financial reporting, including developing financial systems.
  • Demonstrated experience in leading and managing diverse teams.
  • Highly organised and structured approach to work.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to explain complex information clearly.
  • Strong relationship building skills.
  • Advanced IT skills, including extensive Excel knowledge and experience supporting and developing finance systems.
  • Good knowledge of GDPR regulations.
  • Experience in applying for funding grants and leading tender applications.
  • A willingness to be hands-on and involved in day-to-day tasks when needed.
  • An understanding of the construction industry.
  • Working knowledge of Health and Safety legislation (e.g., Health and Safety at Work Act 1974).
  • A strong appreciation of risk management and compliance obligations for public-facing organisations.
Responsibilities
  • Financial Leadership: Develop and implement robust financial strategies, policies, and systems. Manage the finance and facilities team, produce comprehensive management accounts and budgets, liaise with auditors, and identify cost-saving and income-generating opportunities. Provide financial expertise for funding applications and tenders.
  • IT & Systems Management: Oversee the IT strategy, lead system change projects, ensure effective management of IT infrastructure and systems, and champion robust Information Governance and Data Security practices.
  • Strategic Contribution: Work closely with the Chief Executive and senior management team to develop and deliver strategic and business plans, ensuring the long-term financial viability of the organisation and advising on the financial implications of strategic decisions.
  • Team Management: Lead, mentor, and develop the Finance, IT, and Project teams, ensuring effective recruitment, training, and performance.
  • General: Deputise for the Chief Executive, contribute to the organisation’s strategic aims and values, promote a positive organisational culture, and actively participate in the Senior Management Team.
