The Finance Data & Analytics Governance Manager ensures the quality, integrity, and governance of data assets within an organization. This role works closely with finance stakeholders, data management teams, and IT professionals to establish and maintain data standards, policies, and processes. Responsibilities include data profiling, metadata management, data security management and promoting a data-driven culture within the finance function.

JOB REQUIREMENTS

Education

• A bachelor’s degree in computer science, data analytics, software engineering, information technology, finance, or related field

Experience

• A minimum of 5 years of experience in a data governance or data management leadership role, preferably in a large-scale, enterprise environment.
• Demonstrated project experience designing and implementing data governance initiatives in a management role
• Knowledge and skillset in the finance domain is preferred

Skills

• Strong understanding of data management concepts, data governance frameworks, and data quality principles
• Proficiency in data profiling and data analysis techniques using tools like SQL, Excel, or data profiling software
• Familiarity with metadata management and data dictionary tools
• Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills to identify and resolve data quality issues
• Ability to effectively and persuasively communicate technical standards, practices, and initiatives to drive data governance throughout the organization
• Familiarity with data-related technologies and tools such as ETL, data warehouses, and data lakes
• Knowledge of data visualization and reporting tools such as Tableau, Power BI, and Looker
• Data analysis and manipulation skills through data science languages/tools such as Python, R, JavaScript, and SQL
• Finance knowledge and business acumen to understand and interpret financial data in the context of business operations is preferred
• Demonstrated ability to develop and document data governance policies, procedures, and standards.
• Proven track record in driving data quality improvement initiatives and establishing data governance frameworks.
• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to effectively collaborate with business stakeholders and technical teams.

• Collaborates with finance, IT and Enterprise Architecture stakeholders to define and implement data management strategies, policies, and governance frameworks specific to data used in financial decisions.
• Establishes and enforces data standards, naming conventions, and data classification frameworks by leveraging Collibra
• Establish and maintain comprehensive data lineage to track the flow of data from source to destination, ensuring data traceability and impact analysis
• Conducts data profiling and analysis to assess the quality, completeness, and accuracy of data assets. Implements financial reconciliation & validation leading practices.
• Implements and monitors data governance processes, including data access controls, data retention policies, data quality measurement, and data life cycle management
• Collaborate with Enterprise IT teams to ensure proper data synchronization across systems
• Develops data governance training programs to increase data literacy and educate stakeholders on data management practices
• Ensures data is deemed fit for purpose by developing data quality rules and regularly auditing data
• Lead the operational aspects of data management processes, including data acquisition, data integration, data transformation, data profiling, and data cleansing.
• Develop policies and procedures to ensure appropriate access rules are in place and access groups are defined and maintained
• Overseas data security guidelines and models for different financial datasets to ensure data protection and compliance with regulations.
• Participates in the development of data policies, including data retention, data privacy, data use, and data regulations. Helps identify, report, analyze, and resolve data issues related to uniqueness, integrity, accuracy, consistency, and completeness
• Work with IT teams to implement and maintain data governance tools and technologies, ensuring effective data management and efficient operations.
• Provide guidance and support to cross-functional teams on data governance and operational best practices, fostering a culture of data-driven decision-making.
