EXPERIENCE

  • Essential:
  • SQL Server and SQL Server Analysis Services from an application developer standpoint.
  • Data warehouse design, SQL, ETL, stored procedures, performance tuning, UI design, and testing.
  • Familiarity with using DevOps to manage requirements through development, testing & deployment
  • Analytical Thinking: Ability to dissect complex problems and drive data-driven decisions.
  • Technical Acumen: Strong grasp of technical concepts, allowing effective communication with data engineers, analysts, and architects.
  • Attention to Detail: Ensuring data accuracy and integrity in all products overseen.
  • Continuous Learner: Staying updated with the latest in BI tools, data trends, and industry-specific needs.Problem-solving: Ability to troubleshoot issues, foresee potential pitfalls, and proactively devise solutions.


    • Desirable:

    • Knowledge of insurance, accounting (GAAP), financial reporting, and Lloyd’s market is highly beneficial.
    • Knowledge of S2000 would be advantageous
    • Experience of supporting and developing Phinsys productsDBA exposure is advantageous.

    • Essential:
    • SQL query language
    • MDX query language
    • Writing SQL-based stored procedures
    • Demonstrated hands-on experience working with Business Intelligence (BI) concepts, data warehousing, and data modelling and an ability to debug, extend and improve the solution based on best practices and new requirements.
    • Ability to work in a mature SDLC
    • Experience with modern source control (e.g Git)
    • Writing high-quality technical and business-facing documentationExcellent communication skills with the ability to work independently when required.

      Responsibilities:

      JOB PURPOSE:

      The Finance Support Engineer will be responsible for supporting and developing enhancements to Ascot’s financial applications. The ideal candidate will have significant experience working in collaborative teams for delivery, implementation, maintenance and user support.

      ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS AND BASIC DUTIES

      • Support, document, develop and enhance Phinsys applications utilising Tandem Data Warehouse, Inform, Rapport, Comply, and Postbox.
      • Conduct changes and configuration within Phinsys.
      • Package releases, including the preparation of release notes and run books.
      • Create and maintain comprehensive documentation for supported applications.
      • Implement monitoring and alerting systems to ensure application health and performance.
      • Perform system testing and quality assurance of financial applications and systems.Collaborate with the Finance Product Owner, to align development and support activities with finance product objectives.
