Description

About the job

Overview:

  • Salary: $220,000 - $240,000 + Superannuation
  • Location: Sydney
  • Industry: Building Services / HVAC / Fire / Mechanical Services
  • Focus: Project accounting, service revenue, PE reporting, acquisitions and multi-entity finance
  • Flexibility: On-site 5 Days (there is "common-sense flexibility", but no designated WFH days)
  • Ideal Background: Building, construction, engineering or infrastructure services ( contracting/project-led environments)

The Opportunity

This is a proper FD role in a business with scale, complexity and a clear growth agenda.

After recent investment from private equity, the business has grown to $100m+ revenue and continues to scale through a combination of organic growth, operational improvement, and acquisition activity.

This is not a sleepy finance seat where the biggest challenge is getting the month-end pack out on time.

The business has multiple entities, project revenue, service and maintenance contracts, working capital pressure, lingering acquisition integrations, evolving PE reporting requirements and all the moving parts that come with a rapidly growing group.

There is plenty to sink your teeth into here.

Role Profile

Reporting to the Managing Director and working closely with PE observers, you will lead the finance function and provide clear, commercial financial leadership across the group. Your remit will include:

  • Leading the finance function across a multi-entity building services group.
  • Owning management reporting, forecasting, budgeting and board-level financial analysis.
  • Providing clear visibility across contract profitability, margin (and driving margin improvement), WIP, and revenue recognition.
  • Delivering high-quality reporting, including board packs, KPI reporting, cash flow visibility and performance commentary.
  • Supporting acquisition integration, including systems, reporting, controls, entity structure and process alignment.
  • Leading, developing and structuring the finance team to support the next stage of growth.
  • Acting as a genuine commercial partner to the leadership team and operational leaders across the technical service lines.
