Job Details Job Location: Main Campus - Edmond, OK 73034 Position Type: Faculty Job Category: OTRS Classified Position Summary: The College of Business at the University of Central Oklahoma (UCO), an AACSB-accredited institution, invites applications for a full-time, tenure-track Assistant Professor of Finance to begin in August 2026. We are particularly interested in candidates with teaching and/or industry experience in Insurance & Risk Management or Real Estate, two high-demand areas that align with departmental strategic goals. The ideal candidate will demonstrate teaching excellence, an active research agenda consistent with AACSB scholarly academic (SA) qualifications, and the ability to contribute to service at the department, college, and university levels. Prior professional business experience in finance, insurance, or real estate is highly valued and strongly preferred. Department Overview: The Department of Finance includes 12 full-time faculty members and offers undergraduate majors in Business Law, Finance, Insurance & Risk Management, and Real Estate. Minors include Banking, Financial Planning, Insurance & Risk Management, and Real Estate. At the graduate level, the department offers a Master of Science in Finance and contributes to the curriculum of the UCO MBA and MSBA programs. The department supports the Actuary, Insurance, and Risk Management Club, the Finance Club, the Real Estate Club, and Pre-Law Society Club. It also manages a Student Investment Fund and hosts events such as the UCO Commercial Real Estate Summit. Essential Responsibilities: The successful candidate will teach undergraduate and/or graduate courses in Finance and subfields such as Insurance, Risk Management, or Real Estate, using a transformative and applied learning approach. Faculty are expected to maintain an active research agenda that meets AACSB scholarly academic standards and to participate in curriculum development and assessment activities. Additional responsibilities include service to the department, college, university, and professional communities, mentoring students, and contributing to student engagement through co-curricular activities. The standard teaching load is four courses per semester, with possible reductions for research through a competitive application process. Courses may be delivered in face-to-face and asynchronous online formats. Required Qualifications: A Ph.D. or DBA in Finance or a closely related field, preferably from an AACSB-accredited institution. ABD candidates must have a scheduled dissertation defense date prior to the employment start date. **NOTE** If the doctorate is not obtained and submitted by the time of employment, the position rank will change to TT-Instructor. Candidates must demonstrate the ability to meet Scholarly Academic (SA) qualifications under AACSB standards and provide evidence of teaching effectiveness at the university level. Preferred Qualifications: Teaching and/or professional work experience in Insurance & Risk Management or Real Estate is preferred. Candidates with professional business experience in related fields or leadership in business, government, or professional associations will receive strong consideration. Compensation: Salary is commensurate with credentials and experience.
