WHAT YOU WILL BE DOING (ESSENTIAL DUTIES) … Newport Mental Health, a leading community mental health organization committed to transforming lives and fostering well-being, is seeking a motivated and detail-oriented Finance Intern to join our Finance Department. As a Finance Intern, you will gain hands-on experience in accounting, bookkeeping, and financial data entry while supporting the daily operations of the Finance team. This internship offers a unique opportunity to contribute to the financial health of a mission-driven nonprofit organization. Main Duties and Responsibilities: Assist with Accounts Payable (AP) and Accounts Receivable (AR) Perform data entry into accounting systems and spreadsheets with a high level of accuracy Collaborate with team members to ensure timely and accurate financial processing Maintain and organize financial documents for audit readiness Provide support for other basic accounting and administrative tasks as needed Requirements Knowledge, Skills and Abilities: Strong organizational skills and attention to detail. Self-motivated with the ability to manage multiple tasks and meet deadlines. Proficient in Microsoft Excel and comfortable using accounting software (experience with Blackbaud NXT or similar tools is a plus). Excellent written and verbal communication skills. A willingness to learn and contribute in a collaborative team environment. Other Duties: Perform all other duties as assigned by the Supervisor. Attending trainings and meetings as assigned. Adhere to safety policies including participation in fire/disaster drills. Education and experience: Enrolled in a university or college program at junior or senior level in accounting, finance, or a related field.
