About the Role We’re hiring our first in-house finance lead to take ownership of the company’s financial operations and reporting as we scale. This is a hands-on role with significant responsibility and visibility. You will own the day-to-day finance function while working closely with the CEO on planning, reporting, and decision-making. You’ll also work with external accountants to manage VAT, statutory filings, and compliance across EU jurisdictions. This role is well-suited to someone who enjoys ownership, is comfortable working independently, and wants to be close to how the business is run. What you’ll do Own month-end close, reconciliations, and general ledger management Manage invoicing, accounts payable/receivable, and cash flow Prepare monthly management accounts (P&L, balance sheet, cash flow) Run weekly business reviews (WBRs) and provide financial insight Build and maintain budgets, forecasts, and cash flow models Support hiring, spend, and growth decisions through scenario planning Assist with investor and funding-related reporting Coordinate VAT filings across EU countries (Germany, Luxembourg, Ireland) Support VAT registrations where required, working with external accountants Liaise with accountants and auditors for statutory filings and compliance Put finance processes and controls in place as the company scales What you’ll bring 5+ years hands-on finance/accounting experience ideally with EU exposure. Bachelor’s degree in Accounting/Finance or another quantitative field. Strong EU VAT competence in multiple EU countries and statutory filing experience Month-end close, reconciliations, AP/AR, invoicing, and investor-grade reporting. Financial modeling & forecasting you can defend. Builder’s mindset, bias for action, and high integrity. Clear communication skills in English (spoken and written). A proactive, adaptable mindset and willingness to grow in a startup environment. Bonus Points Experience with e-commerce platforms or B2B marketplaces. Startup or scale-up experience as a one-person finance function. Audit liaison and due-diligence prep experience. Implemented finance tooling/automation (e.g. approvals, dashboards).

Responsibilities

The Finance Lead will own the day-to-day finance function, including month-end close, reconciliations, and general ledger management. They will also prepare monthly management accounts and support financial decision-making.
