About the role
The Finance Manager - Accounting & Reporting will oversee core accounting and finance processes associated with AGL’s Customer Markets business unit. This role will ensure appropriate controls and governance frameworks are clearly defined and embedded in everything that the Customer Markets finance teams do; while supporting business Heads in the forecasting and reporting of 4 year plans, expenses, balance sheet, depreciation and amortisation.
This role will also play a key part in driving continuous improvement across finance systems and processes, and lead a team of 2 direct reports.
This is a 12 month maximum-term role, based in Melbourne CBD.

What you’ll be doing

  • Oversee reported Customer Markets balance sheet and drive governance to support balances via coordinating periodic balance sheet reviews.
  • Own and drive the sold vs billed process that covers three-way reconciliation of market, network and billed data.
  • Work with managers and analysts across Customer Markets finance to ensure efficient and effective month-end processes completed to a high standard and on a timely basis.
  • Coordinate preparation and review of BU management performance reporting.
  • Provide insights on business performance against strategy through variance analysis and commentary.
  • Identify ongoing risk & opportunities that need to be managed.
  • Coordinate and review of disclosure packs for half yearly external reporting.
  • Act as key point of contact for external auditors, including facilitation and coordination of data requests, review and resolution of issues raised, and writing of papers and associated material for audit and risk committee.
  • Resolve judgmental audit issues with support from heads of and other finance managers.
  • Review variance analysis and related commentary for OFR and cashflow.
  • Provide input and analysis into annual impairment testing activities.
  • Manage the team through the forecasting process from collection of inputs, navigation of interdependencies and preparation of outputs to achieve stakeholder buy-in.
  • Drive resolution of key issues, including liaison with tech and business subject matter experts, and coordination of effort across finance to achieve successful outcomes.
  • Be responsible for employee/team performance, development and succession planning.
  • Drive team culture and design & execute on a strategy for team engagement.

What you’ll bring to the table

  • CA/CPA/ACA/MBA qualified with extensive experience in month-end close and finance planning processes within a large-complex organisation
  • Advanced user of a Finance module of ERP (preferably SAP)
  • Advanced user of MS office tools (Excel, PowerPoint, Word)
  • High quality written communication skills including exposure to board papers
  • Ability to present complex data/concepts in a clear and easily understood manner and influence business decisions
  • Ability to manage complex projects with multiple resources
  • Ability to influence and interact with senior management & executives across the business
