EXPERIENCE

  • Proven experience as a bookkeeper or in a similar role within an accounting environment.
  • Proven experience as a finance manager, able to combine this role with that of a detail oriented bookkeeper to manage day to day finances of the business while working with the CEO to analyse and input to the business strategy.
  • Excellent IT skills and a forward-thinking, modern attitude.
  • An understanding of automated processes and how to use AI in accounting.
  • Proficiency in accounting software in Xero is essential.
  • Strong understanding of accounts payable processes and general accounting principles.
  • Excellent attention to detail and organisational skills to manage multiple tasks effectively.
  • Ability to work independently as well as part of a team, demonstrating strong communication skills.

Responsibilities

ROLE OVERVIEW

A national company are seeking a meticulous and detail-oriented finance manager/bookkeeper to join their finance team. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in managing financial records and will be proficient in various accounting software. This role is essential for maintaining accurate financial information, ensuring compliance with regulations, working with the CEO to review financial performance and supporting the overall financial health of the organisation.

RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Maintain accurate financial records by recording daily transactions in Xero.
  • Issuing invoicing through Xero.
  • Working with new IT software and being an integral part of our financial transformation.
  • Manage accounts payable, ensuring timely payments to suppliers and vendors.
  • Prepare monthly and year-end financial statements and reports for management review.
  • Paying invoices and expenses during a weekly payment run.
  • Maintain accurate ledgers and budgets and track expenses.
  • Reconcile bank statements and resolve discrepancies in a timely manner.
  • Support with HMRC filings, financial statements, and ongoing business advice.
  • Closing and being responsible for month end.
  • Support and advise with operational decisions.
  • Deal with VAT compliance and returns
  • Assist with budgeting and forecasting processes by providing relevant financial data.
  • Ensure compliance with all relevant financial regulations and standards.
  • Collaborate with external auditors during the annual audit process.
  • Support the finance team with any additional administrative tasks as required.
  • Provide management accounts and information to the CEO for review
