Technology Finance is responsible for the provision of financial control and management services to the Technology division. We work closely with our stakeholders to help them understand their technology costs and deliver current and future strategic and financial plans.
Your team forms part of the wider Tech Finance Team of approximately 90 people and provides business partnering and financial management services to Technology and Business Unit CIOs.

Your team’s primary role is to:

  • Support Technology leadership team with Finance management
  • Provide insights, analysis and advice in relation to past and future financial performance
  • Provide robust financial control and effective management reporting
  • Provide decision support and reporting for Technology strategic initiatives and investment programs
  • Develop and deliver meaningful insights to drive better business outcomes and provide commercial support, including cost optimisation and simplification
  • Provide guidance and advice to the business leaders on the financial performance of the business, the financial plans and forecasts and the financial impacts of change initiatives

This role is responsible for assisting the Senior Manager in provide financial and business partnering support to areas within Business Banking Technology. BB Tech supports the Business Bank’s technology services including Digital, CommSec , Business Lending, Customer Channel and Data, Everyday Business Banking and Payments. You will be contributing to the business priorities by providing insight and supporting stakeholders with financial outcomes related to expense management and commercials of Technology.
To deliver on outcomes, you will have effective relationships across the broader Technology Finance team, as well as other teams across Financial Services (incl. Group Finance).

Responsibilities

Your team’s primary role is to:

  • Support Technology leadership team with Finance management
  • Provide insights, analysis and advice in relation to past and future financial performance
  • Provide robust financial control and effective management reporting
  • Provide decision support and reporting for Technology strategic initiatives and investment programs
  • Develop and deliver meaningful insights to drive better business outcomes and provide commercial support, including cost optimisation and simplification
  • Provide guidance and advice to the business leaders on the financial performance of the business, the financial plans and forecasts and the financial impacts of change initiative

The role includes, but is not limited, to the following:

  • Reporting to the Senior Manager you will assist in business partnering to the Business Bank Technology leadership team with an spend of +$0.5bn
  • Preparation and presentation of monthly financial results and analysis for both BAU and investment spend to Technology, Business Unit and Finance General Managers
  • Understanding underlying drivers of performance and variances to Plan and assisting in discussions with the Business
  • Providing timely and relevant financial information and insights, analysis and advice as and when required to support timely and effective decision making
  • Driving the month end process including the preparation / review of month end journals, undertaking general ledger reviews, completing variance analysis and submitting month end results to Centre Finance
  • Creation and delivery (in both verbal and written form) of crisp, concise and impactful material to assist in driving business outcomes and enhanced cost transparency
  • Working closely with the business to develop meaningful driver based plans and forecasts in support of insightful analytics and business performance management, including the identification of cost savings and appropriate challenge of cost growth
  • Ability to constructively challenge team and stakeholders as and when required
  • Effective prioritisation skills used in conjunction with line manager prioritisation
  • Collaborating with both Finance and Business stakeholders to drive business outcomes and become a trusted advisor
  • Ensuring a strong financial control environment is maintained , including integrity of the general ledger, through extensive variance analysis and balance sheet review and challenge
  • Identifying and driving continuous improvement opportunities in analysis, reporting and financial control
