FINANCE MANAGER – CONTRACT (MATERNITY LEAVE COVERAGE)

GGFI Law is looking for an experienced Finance Manager to join our team on a contract basis to cover a maternity leave. The ideal candidate will bring strong financial management expertise, excellent organizational skills, and the ability to work independently in a fast-paced professional environment. QUALIFICATIONS & SKILLS:

  • Proven experience working as a Finance Manager or similar role
  • Maintain confidentiality of financial and firm information
  • Proficiency with accounting software (experience with Soluno and QuickBooks is an asset)
  • Experience in a law firm is a strong asset
  • CPA designation is an asset
  • Excellent time management, organization, and prioritization skills

Responsibilities
  • Manage regular financial tasks, including issuing cheques, account reconciliations and vendor payments
  • Maintain trust and general accounting records in compliance with Law Society regulations
  • Support real estate closings by processing trust deposits, issuing wire transfers, posting transactions in Soluno, and coordinating with the real estate team to ensure timely and accurate fund disbursement
  • Oversee GIC setup and redemptions in coordination with financial institutions and lawyers
  • Approve and process wire transfers and other firm-wide payments
  • Support year-end financial activities, including reporting for professional corporations and external accountants
  • Prepare and review financial reports and budgets
  • Assist with regulatory filings such as the Law Society Annual Report and insurance renewals
  • Maintain accounting software access, settings, and user permissions
  • Provide backup support to general accounting team functions as needed
  • Other tasks and duties as required by the firm
