Conflict Resolution Service is looking for an experienced, reliable and values-driven Finance Manager to support the organisation’s financial management, reporting and compliance. This is a key role for someone who enjoys accurate financial administration, practical problem solving and helping a small community focus organisation make sound decisions.

You will be part of a specialist, community-focused organisation that work primarily with children, youth and family to preserve family connections, reunify and strengthen relationships, and restore family harmony by reducing conflict. CRS provides evidence-based services across children, youth and family programs, alternative dispute resolution, training and justice services.

As Finance Manager, you will be responsible for maintaining accurate financial records, overseeing core finance processes, preparing timely reports and supporting the CEO, Executive team and Board with reliable financial information. You will help ensure CRS meets its statutory, funding and organisational obligations while keeping day-to-day finance operations running smoothly.

This is a fixed-term position backfilling a parental leave absence for 12 months, commencing in October 2026, with the possibility of extension. The role is part time, 30 hours per week.

This role will suit someone who is organised, calm under deadlines and confident working across finance, administration and reporting tasks. You will work closely with the CEO and Executive team while managing the day-to-day finance functions that keep the organisation operating effectively.

What you’ll be doing

In this role, you will:

• Maintain accurate, timely and compliant financial records, controls and reporting processes
• Manage accounts payable and accounts receivable, including supplier invoices, customer invoicing, debtor follow-up and processing in Xero
• Complete account and credit card reconciliations and ensure monthly suspense clearing is completed accurately
• Coordinate regular pay runs, ad-hoc payments, BPAYs and account balance transfers in line with approved delegations and internal controls
• Prepare, lodge and arrange payment of quarterly BAS and IAS statements within required timeframes
• Support budget development, enter approved budgets into Xero, and prepare program forecasts and unspent budget reports
• Process monthly journals, maintain general ledger records and complete month-end finance tasks
• Prepare Board reports, funding reports, acquittals and other management reports as required
• Prepare six-monthly and annual acquittals and provide finance information for Government reports, returns and declarations
• Maintain the fixed asset register and ensure asset records are complete and current
• Act as a backup for payroll processing when required
• Manage the Accounts and Administration inboxes, responding to finance enquiries and escalating matters where needed
• Support office, fleet and ICT administration where relevant to organisational operations
• Support the CEO and Executive team with finance-related administration and information for organisational decision-making

About you

You are a capable finance professional who brings strong attention to detail, sound judgement and a practical understanding of finance processes. You are comfortable working independently, managing deadlines and communicating clearly with staff, suppliers, funders and other stakeholders.

You understand the importance of accuracy, confidentiality and compliance, and you take pride in providing reliable financial information that supports good organisational decisions. Experience in the not-for-profit or community services sector would be highly regarded.

Selection criteria

1. Experience in finance, bookkeeping or accounting, including payables, receivables, reconciliations, BAS, IAS, journals and financial reporting
2. Ability to maintain accurate financial records, sound internal controls and compliant finance processes
3. Strong attention to detail when working with budgets, reports, reconciliations and financial data
4. Good organisational skills and the ability to manage deadlines, lodgments, payment cycles and reporting requirements
5. Confidence using accounting software, preferably Xero
6. Ability to review financial information, identify issues and resolve discrepancies
7. Clear and professional communication skills with staff, suppliers, funders and other stakeholders
8. Ability to work independently, use sound judgement and collaborate with the CEO, Executive team and colleagues

Qualifications and requirements

Essential:

• Qualifications in accounting, bookkeeping, finance or a related discipline
• At least 5 years' experience in finance, bookkeeping, accounting or financial administration roles, preferably with responsibility for reporting, reconciliations, payroll processing support and statutory lodgments
• Current driver's license, current Working with Vulnerable People registration or ability to obtain one, and current police check or ability to obtain one

• Previous experience working in the not-for-profit sector
