Description

Location: Sandringham, VICEmployment Type: PermanentSalary: $125,000 + SuperannuationIndustry: Single-Family Office (property, commercial assets and investments)Preferred Background: Family office or HNW advisory exposure, or chartered accounting experience with complex private clients

The Opportunity

This is the kind of finance role that offers real ownership, input and commercial involvement beyond the usual cycle of month-end, invoices and reconciliations.

You will join a small single-family office based in Sandringham, working closely with the family principal to help manage, improve and bring structure to the family's financial, property and governance affairs.

You will bring better clarity to the numbers, structure to the governance and a steady hand to the advisers. You'll work closely with the decision-makers and play an integral part in board packs, adviser recommendations, capital planning and family communication.

This will suit someone who wants to stay commercially engaged, apply their finance and analytical skills, and contribute across a broad range of financial and business matters.

For the right person, this is a trusted role and a long-term home, where you can build a close working relationship with the family and become an important part of how the office operates.

Role Profile

This is a small office, so the role will be hands-on. You will need to be comfortable moving between detailed financial work, adviser coordination, board reporting, property analysis and practical administration when required. There is no large finance team behind you, so initiative, sound judgement and a willingness to get involved will be essential. Your remit will cover:

  • Monthly and quarterly reporting across the family's entities, trusts, property interests and investment structures, bringing clarity to balances, loans, inter-entity accounts and cash positions.
  • Preparing and coordinating quarterly family board packs, pulling together financial, property, investment and adviser inputs.
  • Analysis and modelling across property, cash flow, capex, lease renewals, valuations and due diligence.
  • Acting as the internal point of contact for external advisers across accounting, tax, superannuation, estate planning, investment and property, and ensuring their recommendations are followed through.
  • Supporting governance across board calendars, agendas, documentation, policies, ASIC requirements, insurance and tax deadlines.
  • Improving systems and reporting to give the office clearer visibility and reduce reliance on individuals and third-party tools.
