JOB SUMMARY

Reporting to the Chief Executive Officer, the Finance Manager performs a critical role in overseeing accounting and financial operations for all Maxville Manor entities (LTC, Community Outreach, Foundation, Glen Garden Village and Capital/Redevelopment). The Finance Manager will oversee all financial responsibilities of Maxville Manor including accounting, financial planning and analysis, payroll, insurance and redevelopment financing and accounting. They will ensure financial stewardship, integrity and accountability to the Maxville Manor Board of Directors and the Maxville Manor Foundation.

QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Certified Professional Accounting designation (CPA) in good standing or equivalent finance or accounting education.
  • Long-term care experience an asset.
  • Progressive management experience.
  • Excellent communication skills combined with strong presentation skills. French an asset.
  • A proven ability to critically analyze complex issues and propose innovative approaches.
  • Proficient computer skills including financial and accounting software as well as office productivity tools.
  • Demonstrated ability as an effective change agent, collaborator and strategic thinker.
  • Ability to prioritize and make necessary decisions aligned with the strategic and operational plan.
  • Demonstrated commitment to continuous improvement.
  • Solid professional with sound judgment, able to proactively take initiative and work well under pressure.
  • Self-motivated, energetic and a team player.
Responsibilities

Financial Oversight:

  • Manage financial operations across multiple Maxville Manor entities.
  • Ensure accuracy in financial reporting and compliance with accounting standards.
  • Prepare and analyze monthly, quarterly, and annual financial statements for review and presentation to members of the management team by department and the Board.
  • Ensure all reporting requirements and areas requiring approval are met in a timely manner.
  • Support members of the management team with understanding financials and decision-making.

Budgeting and Forecasting:

  • Lead the budgeting process and provide financial forecasts to support annual operating plan and priority projects.
  • Monitor trends and variances and make recommendations to maintain the budget.
  • Provide recommendations to the management team and to the Board on how to balance operations

Internal Controls:

  • Develop and maintain internal controls to safeguard company assets.

Team Leadership:

  • Manage the accounting and payroll coordinators, including hiring, training, and performance evaluations.

Audit and Compliance:

  • Coordinate external audits of all entities and implement recommendations.
  • Ensure compliance with tax laws, provincial and financial regulations.
  • Conduct periodic audits and reviews internally as required.

Cash Flow Management:

  • Monitor cash flow, manage working capital, and optimize financial performance.

Systems and Processes:

  • Implement and improve financial systems, processes, and policies for efficiency and accuracy and move towards electronic systems.

Long term Capital Redevelopment Project:

  • Oversee construction accounting and prepare detailed construction financial statements.
  • Set up recording process for construction invoices going forward in a manner consistent with Development Agreement and bank. This includes all reporting for the draws and to the bank.
  • Cash flow management for the redevelopment project.
  • Report under the Development Agreement and credit agreement.
  • Prepare reports required to negotiate financing for the redevelopment throughout the project.
  • Prepare and update the long-term capital plan.
