About the Role


The successful candidate will lead the financial reporting, planning and analysis activities for the companies' multiple divisions, providing robust financial governance, insightful business partnering and strategic decision support to leadership to drive operational and commercial performance.


Key Responsibilities


The following reflect the main tasks associated with this position and are not intended to be exclusive or exhaustive:


  • Team Leadership & Oversight: Act as the direct line manager for the Finance team members. Review and sign off on their monthly outputs, including ERP month-end close, project Cost Value Reconciliations (CVRs), month-end management accounts and Board Pack preparation. Lead and develop direct reports, ensuring high performance and engagement.
  • Monthly outputs: directly own and execute specific month-end tasks to include generation and delivery of Board pack to FC, including balance sheet reconciliations, CVR completion for individual projects and MPFY projections.
  • Collaboration to drive cross-functional success: work closely with all departments and other group companies to optimise company financial performance and timely reporting.
  • Commercial Insights: Elevate the preliminary variance analysis provided by the Management Accountant. Deliver high-level, actionable financial insights to the Financial Controller.
  • Budgeting & Forecasting: Own the quarterly and annual budgeting and forecasting processes. Coordinate inputs from the Management Accountant and department heads to build robust financial models.
  • Audit & Tax Ownership: Lead the Year End Audit and Corporate Tax processes end-to-end. Manage relationships with external auditors and tax advisors.
  • Internal Controls: Work closely with the Financial Controller to design, implement, and maintain good financial controls.
  • Cash Flow Strategy: Oversee cash flow reporting and forecasting. Drive working capital optimization.
  • Process Improvement: Identify efficiencies in the current work practices, ERP workflows and output, reporting templates, and statutory compliance submissions (VAT, Intrastat, etc.).
  • Provide support as required to the Financial Controller.

Essential Criteria


  • Qualified accountant (ACA, ACCA, CIMA).
  • Minimum of 6 years' post qualification, hands-on, industry experience in managing a finance function/team or in a similar role.
  • Proficient in accounting software.
  • Advanced MS Excel skills.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
  • Excellent attention to detail, accuracy and commitment to tasks.
  • Ability to work independently and within a team environment and to tight deadlines.
  • Excellent communication skills both written and verbal, with the ability to clearly convey complex financial information to a range of stakeholders.
  • Proven leadership and collaboration capabilities, with experience mentoring teams.
  • Strong personal integrity.
  • Confident, enthusiastic and personable approach to working with internal and external stakeholders at all levels.
  • An all-rounder prepared to work hard within the team on any given task.

Desirable Criteria


  • Project accounting / CVR experience.
  • Construction / Property finance experience.
  • ERP experience, Microsoft D365 F&O.
  • Group accounting experience.
  • Experience using BI tools such as Power BI, or similar platforms to build and present data-driven insights.
  • ROI payroll experience.
