JOB DESCRIPTION

The Finance Unit is responsible for ensuring Nunkuwarrin Yunti’s financial resources are managed in an effective and efficient manner such that all financial activities undertaken by the Organisation meet legal requirements and other reporting obligations. The Finance Unit provides financial support and advice to Executive and Managers and is the first point of contact for all staff payroll activities.

The Finance Manager position is responsible for the provision of financial and accounting services relevant to the business activities of Nunkuwarrin Yunti of South Australia Inc, including and not limited to:

  • Preparation of financial statements and reports to internal and external stakeholders.
  • Preparation and monitoring of budgets for all programs, including regularly reporting on actual results against budget.
  • Providing expert financial information and advice to Executive and Managers to enable them to make informed decisions.
  • Maintaining control over funding, including capital projects according to set budgets.
  • Managing the payroll function.
  • Ensuring that the revenues and assets of the organisation are protected through the establishment of effective financial controls.
  • Ensuring effective communication processes with internal and external clients of the organisation including funding bodies, government agencies and other key stakeholders.
  • Ensuring funding body accounts and statutory accounts are managed efficiently and comply with accounting standards and legal requirements.
  • Maintaining the financial fixed asset register.
  • Managing other financial requirements such as banking and investment, insurance and owned property valuation.
  • Managing the audit function and ensuring Nunkuwarrin Yunti’s auditors are provided with accurate and timely information for the annual audit review.
  • Undertaking projects within broadly defined guidelines.
  • Contributing to meeting the organisation’s objectives through the ongoing development, implementation and review of policies, procedures, reporting processes and initiatives.
  • Overseeing Finance Unit staff and activities to ensure the day to day operations of the Finance Unit are undertaken to best practice human resource management standards.
