BCNO combines two long-established higher education institutions - The European School of Osteopathy and the British College of Naturopathy and Osteopathy. We provide degree programmes in Osteopathy to students in Kent and London.
We are now seeking to recruit a part time Finance Manager to take responsibility for the management of our day-to-day accounting and finance requirements. This is a new role working alongside a Finance Administrator. The role is based at our Kent campus, with regular paid travel to our London campus.

ABOUT YOU

You will hold a full or part accounting qualification such as AAT, ACCA etc, with at least 18 months’ experience in a Finance Officer role (or similar). It would be ideal if you have experience of finance in higher education, but not essential. Experience of book-keeping, producing management account and annual financial statements is essential, as is your knowledge and experience of financial database management.
We are looking for a proactive, self-starter - someone operates at a high standard and is able to adapt to manage conflicting demands and deadlines.
There is some flexibility on the allocation of the 21 hours per week. The salary quoted is the part time salary - it is £27K to £30K on a full time basis.

Responsibilities
  • Balance and maintain accurate ledgers
  • Creditor and Debtor Management
  • Coordinate International business activity to Financial Control and Contract Terms
  • Responsibility for Bank Transaction In and Out through to Bank Reconciliation
  • Maintain Daily and Monthly Cash Flow reporting
  • Assisting in preparation of Annual Financial Statements/Annual Return
  • Managing financial transactions and record keeping with strict attention to detail
  • Reviewing, verifying and processing accounts payable transactions for payment
  • Investigating and resolving account discrepancies, ensuring compliance with internal controls
  • Manage Self-Funding Student Fee Income
  • Work with the CEO to prepare OPEX and CAPEX budgets
  • Generate Management Account data for CEO
  • Work with External Auditors Educational and Commercial
  • Reconcile Clinical Income drawn from Patient Activity
  • Producing quarterly management accounts
  • Producing quarterly financial performance reports
  • Helping students with Student Loan Company queries and any other body queries concerning student finances
  • Providing guidance to students about the funding environment and helping to navigate through the processes.
  • Helping verify that appropriate funding is in place for each student.
  • Monitoring the tuition income and chasing overdue payments.
  • Creating training manuals and interactive blogs for students’ finance and instructions on how to apply.
  • Evaluating the students’ eligibility and raising any concerns immediately.
  • Issuing changes of student circumstances on the Student Loan Company’s portal.
  • Producing Student Financial forms and other documentation.
  • Verifying evidence relating to applicants’ financial support in consultation with the Finance Department or the Assessor assigned, and liaising proactively and empathetically with applicants
  • Supervision and development of Finance Administrator.
  • The post-holder may be asked to take on other tasks as required, and all employees are expected to work collaboratively to support the overall work of BCNO.
