We have a fantastic opportunity for a Finance Manager to join our Finance Department on a full-time permanent basis, located at Caulfield Racecourse.
The Finance Manager – PLG is responsible for managing the finance and accounting activities for the PLG business units of the Club.

We are one of Australia’s most prestigious Sports, Events and Property Development companies. As well as running elite horse racing at Caulfield, Sportsbet Sandown and Mornington Racecourses, we own 15 pub venues under the Pegasus Leisure Group (PLG).

QUALIFICATIONS

  • Post graduate and professional membership in either Institute of Chartered Accountants in Australia (CA) or CPA Australia (CPA) qualified accountant.
  • Bachelor’s degree in Accounting/Finance.

SKILLS & EXPERIENCE

  • Strong numerical accuracy
  • Exceptional attention to detail
  • High level of organization, administration and record keeping skills
  • Understanding of commercial accounting principals
  • Comprehensive knowledge of Australian Accounting Standards
  • Thorough understanding of Excel and technical functions of the program
  • Extensive knowledge of business unit contribution and profitability
  • Knowledge of inventory management software and general principles supporting such software
  • Minimum eight years’ experience in accounting.
  • Four years in a similar role to this position description.
  • Experience with accounting within not for profit, sports or hospitality industry desirable but not necessary.
Responsibilities
  • Provide detailed analysis and explanations of monthly variance analysis.
  • Review and challenge performance identifying key variances and suggesting opportunities and actions to rectify.
  • Ensure the management of actionable reporting to ensure profitability in PLG business units, keeping key stakeholders accountable for costs (not fixed) and missed revenue targets.
  • Take ownership of PLG annual budget process.
  • Prepare financial modelling and analysis.
  • Ensure budgets are effectively managed through analysing and monitoring performance against targets.
  • Identify and mitigate audit risks by improving processes and driving the implementation of financial best practices.
  • Provide ongoing support to General Managers and Executives on all financial management affairs.
  • Manage your team to produce accurate and timely financial information to Hotel and Gaming venues.
  • Manage and support direct reports by providing open channels of communication and ongoing, honest feedback.
  • Demonstrate accountability for identifying personal development requirements with the team in consultation with the P&C team.
  • Drive performance and continuous improvement of direct reports through talent identification, succession planning and career pathway development
