ABOUT YOU:

You’re an experienced financial professional with a proven track record of managing complex financial operations. You thrive in environments where you can take ownership, create structure, and make a meaningful impact. You have proven success in full-cycle accounting, with demonstrated expertise at the Controller level or higher. Hands-on knowledge with budgeting experience and understanding non-profit funding requirements, particularly zero-based budgeting. Your proficiency with QuickBooks Online and foundational Excel skills enables you to optimize financial processes effectively and you are a detail-oriented problem solver who can balance day-to-day accounting tasks with strategic initiatives. This role is ideal for someone comfortable wearing multiple hats in a lean and collaborative environment.

YOUR SKILLS & EXPERIENCE:

10+ years of full-cycle accounting experience, with expertise at Controller level or higher.
Strong understanding of non-profit financial reporting and funding compliance.
Proficiency in building and managing budgets, including zero-based budgeting.
Working knowledge of QuickBooks Online and basic Excel functions (no advanced analysis required).
A CPA designation or significant progress toward completion.
Specific experience developing zero-based budgets is a strong asset
Prior exposure to billing and contract management in a leadership role is a definite plus
Former experience with non-profits or similar industries is heavily preferred

Responsibilities

THE ROLE:

We are working with a dynamic and mission-driven organization seeking a Finance Manager to join their team. This hands-on role is essential for ensuring the financial health and operational effectiveness of the organization during a pivotal phase. As the Finance Manager, you’ll manage a wide range of finance functions, including budgeting, payroll oversight, and the establishment of key financial controls. A major milestone will be leading the completion of a zero-based budget for key projects that meet funder requirements for important deadlines. You’ll also help implement monthly board reporting, streamline billing and contracts, and assist in defining a hiring plan for a future permanent position.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:

Develop a zero-based budget for critical projects to meet the standards required by funders and secure future funding
Evaluate and enhance the organization’s control structure to support sustainable operations
Establish and oversee a monthly financial reporting system and collaborate with payroll to refine and clean up files
Review and organize billing relationships with providers and contracts
Handle day-to-day accounting tasks, including journal entries, as the primary accountant for the organization
