About the job

FINANCE MANAGER | 12 MONTH CONTRACT | SYDNEY | IMMEDIATE START

THE COMPANY

Highbury has partnered with a well-established Australian FMCG business to find an ambitious, driven finance professional ready to take the next step into a Finance Manager role.

This is a genuine step-up opportunity for someone who enjoys being in the detail, is ready to own reporting, compliance and controls, and wants to work closely with leadership to shape better systems and ways of working across the business.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

Reporting directly to the Chief Financial Officer, your responsibilities will include:

  • Lead and manage the shared services team, overseeing day-to-day performance, workflow and development
  • Take ownership of the month-end close, delivering accurate and timely reporting across the business
  • Prepare management accounts, board packs and commercial analysis that inform real decisions
  • Manage tax compliance, BAS, FBT, payroll tax, income tax, liaising with external advisers as needed
  • Partner with external auditors and help lead the year-end audit process through to completion
  • Build and strengthen financial controls, keeping the balance sheet clean with a genuine eye for process improvement
  • Get involved in finance transformation work, think automation, ERP upgrades, and embedding best-practice controls
  • Work alongside operational leaders on budgeting, forecasting and day-to-day commercial guidance

REQUIREMENTS

  • CA/CPA qualified, with experience as a Senior Financial Accountant or Finance Manager, ideally within FMCG, manufacturing or any high-growth environment
  • People management experience is essential, ideally leading a shared services team
  • Solid technical grounding across month-end, reporting, tax and statutory compliance, this is a hands-on role, not just oversight
  • Exposure to year-end audits and financial controls, with the confidence to take the lead
  • Naturally commercial, with a bias toward spotting and fixing process gaps rather than waiting to be asked
  • Ambition, energy and a genuine desire to grow into a broader finance leadership career
  • A confident communicator who can partner across the business while still rolling up their sleeves when needed
  • Experience with inventory or stock management processes highly regarded
