Description

Finance Officer – Accounts Payable

Townsville, QLD | Full-time | Contract (Labour Hire)

We're seeking a detail-driven and reliable Finance Officer with Accounts Payable experience to join a busy Finance & Corporate Services team. This is a hands-on role at the centre of the organisation's day-to-day financial operations, covering creditor management, payment processing, reconciliations, cash and bank statement balancing, record keeping and data entry.

Reporting to the Senior Financial Accountant, you'll play a key part in ensuring invoices, payments and reconciliations are processed accurately, on time and in full compliance with policy and legislative requirements — supporting the broader finance team with accurate, timely financial information every step of the way.

About the role

This is a varied and process-driven position suited to someone who enjoys structure, takes pride in accuracy, and is comfortable managing a steady, deadline-driven workload. You'll work closely with suppliers, internal stakeholders and the wider finance team, using your accounts payable expertise to keep transactions moving smoothly and records audit-ready.

What you'll do

  • Match, verify and process supplier invoices in line with GST legislation and the organisation's Delegations Manual
  • Upload and process domestic and international invoices via TechnologyOne and EziScan
  • Run weekly domestic and international supplier payment cycles
  • Prepare and post daily bank reconciliations
  • Support month-end processing, journal entries and financial reporting
  • Maintain accurate records and strong internal controls

What you'll bring

  • Certificate IV in Business Administration (or equivalent experience) with a background in accounts payable — creditor setup, invoice processing, banking transactions and reconciliations
  • Solid understanding of accounting principles, including journals and end-of-month reporting
  • Confidence working independently, prioritising competing deadlines with accuracy and attention to detail
  • Strong communication skills and a collaborative, team-first approach
  • Current C Class Open Driver's Licence (or willingness to obtain)
  • Experience with TechnologyOne, EziScan, Expense8 or CTM software (highly regarded)

What's on offer

  • 3 months contract
  • $41-$46 per hour depending on experience.
