Description

UPEI is seeking applications from qualified individuals to provide timely and efficient accounting, financial and budget analysis support for the Atlantic Veterinary College (AVC). This position collaborates closely with department heads, faculty members, and administrative staff to ensure accurate financial reporting and budget management in the AVC. The AVC Finance Officer will report to the Chief Operating Officer, AVC, and will work closely with the Comptroller’s Office.
The Atlantic Veterinary College (AVC) is an exciting, fully accredited, veterinary school, delivering veterinary and graduate programs. The College includes ~80 full-time faculty, ~250 dedicated staff (including full- and part-time) and ~55 graduate students. AVC includes multi-million-dollar service units, including the Veterinary Teaching Hospital, and Diagnostic Services.

QUALIFICATIONS:

  • CPA designation with an undergraduate degree in Business
  • Minimum of three (3) years of experience in finance or accounting
  • Proven experience in budget management and financial reporting
  • Strong organizational skills and ability to effectively manage multiple priorities
  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills – verbal and written
  • Advanced Excel, analytical and problem-solving skills
Responsibilities
  • Budget oversight and management, including:
  • Prepare and review AVC budget reports, including revenues and expenditures
  • Develop, monitor, and provide budget oversight for the AVC
  • Provide detailed budget forecasts and financial planning
  • Prepare detailed budget proposals and external reporting for restricted grants
  • Provide training and support on the University’s budget management platform
  • Work with the Comptroller’s Office staff to ensure compliance and consistency with University Financial policies and procedures
  • Financial analysis with attention to details and deadlines, including:
  • Prepare AVC financial reconciliations and analyses
  • Conduct financial analysis to support strategic decision-making
  • Evaluate financial performance
  • Provide financial insights and recommendations to senior leadership and administrative staff
  • Preparation of monthly and year-end reconciliations
  • Other duties related to the finance activities of the AVC
