ESSENTIAL REQUIREMENTS (YOU MUST HAVE THESE):

  • Finance Qualification:

Association of Accounting Technicians (AAT) qualification, part-qualified, or an equivalent level of financial training.

  • Communication Skills:

Excellent interpersonal, written, and verbal communication skills.
Ability to clearly explain financial information to various stakeholders.

Ability to communicate confidently in English.

  • Numerical and Accountancy Skills:

Strong numeracy and accountancy skills.

Ability to interpret financial data and regulations accurately.

  • Self-Management:

Ability to plan and complete work with minimal supervision.

Comfortable working under pressure to meet deadlines.

  • IT and System Skills:

Sound knowledge of financial software systems.

Strong IT skills, including spreadsheet and database management.

  • Financial Presentation & Guidance:

Confident in presenting financial information to Headteachers and Governing Bodies.

Able to interpret financial regulations and provide clear advice.

  • Decision Making:

Able to make informed decisions on school budgets and day-to-day service matters.

Responsibilities

ABOUT THE ROLE

We’re looking for a detail-oriented and motivated individual to join our Schools Finance Team. In this role, you’ll support headteachers and school governing bodies by providing high-quality financial services that help schools make the most of their budgets. You’ll work closely with the Principal Accountant (Schools) to deliver services under our Service Level Agreements with local schools.

CORPORATE RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Build positive relationships with colleagues, schools, and external partners.
  • Follow the Council’s policies, including equality, health and safety, and safeguarding.
  • Be aware of and contribute to the Council’s safeguarding responsibilities for children and vulnerable people.
