Whānau Manaaki Kindergartens is looking for someone with exceptional communication skills and a talent for building strong, respectful relationships with whānau. We are looking for someone that has:

  • excellent communication and relationship-building skills
  • respectful and collaborative approach to working with whānau and communities
  • 2-3 years of relevant finance experience
  • commitment to Te Tiriti o Waitangi and culturally appropriate practices
Responsibilities

ABOUT THE ROLE

As a Finance Officer - Kindergarten and Whānau Support, you’ll play a key role in liaising with whānau and with external agencies like MSD and IRD to help families access Family Boost and childcare subsidies, manage fee debt, and support kindergartens with grant applications and financial processes.
This is a fulltime role - 40 hours per week Monday to Friday, based in Porirua, Wellington

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Liaising directly with kindergarten whānau regarding fees, contributions, and Family Boost.
  • Liaising with external agencies such as MSD and IRD to provide additional support to whānau for Family Boost and childcare subsidies.
  • Liaising with kindergartens regarding frequent absence and funding band concerns.
  • Providing general finance advice and guidance to kindergarten teams, particularly regarding the budget process.
  • Developing and maintaining relationships with community grant providers.
  • Supporting kindergartens with grant advice, applications, and accountability reporting.
