Job Title: Finance Officer Reports To: Finance Manager Location: Kampala, Uganda, with quarterly travels to field offices Starting Date: May 2026 Duration: 12 Months BACKGROUND IsraAID is an international non-governmental humanitarian aid organization based in Israel and was founded in 2001, since its inception our teams have worked in emergency and long-term development settings in more than 60 countries around the world. IsraAID responds to emergencies and helps communities affected by crises rebuild their lives and their futures together. From hurricanes to refugee crises to global pandemics, we mobilize quickly and collaborate with communities at the deepest level, accompanying the process of becoming self-reliant in the ability to prepare and respond to emergencies and crises and return to adaptive functioning. In Uganda, we support the recovery and restoration of people affected by humanitarian crises and to cultivate and nurture resilience and build agency while establishing systems and partnerships to reduce the risk of future disasters. We work in 3 geographical locations in Uganda. In Northwestern Uganda in the Palorinya refugee settlement, Southwestern Uganda in the Nakivale Settlement and Nyakabande Transit Centre in Kisoro District ABOUT THE POSITION You will work together in close collaboration with the Finance Manager, to reinforce existing SOPs and systems for financial management and control in compliance with IsraAID financial guidelines, the country’s laws, and donor requirements. DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES Cash and Transaction Management Manage day-to-day accounting functions, including regular cash verification, cash/bank reconciliation, monthly cashbooks closing, advances’ reconciliation, filing of bookkeeping and receipts and timely submission of accounts to the Finance Manager In collaboration with the Finance Manager, ensuring payments to suppliers and recurrent expenditures are made in a timely manner with the appropriate authorisation and the organisation’s internal procedures Process staff facilitations, ensuring that all the supporting documents are in order and expenditure is in accordance with established policies and procedures. Follow up on long-outstanding advances. Manage the office Petty-Cash and compile all the cash counts and payments tracker in line with the organisation’s internal procedures Accounting and Reporting Record transactions into the accounting system daily, ensuring that all transactions are recorded accurately, timely, and treated consistently in accordance with IsraAID’ s accounting policies Assist in the month-end and year-end account closing, including all bank and cash reconciliations Prepare for local audits in collaboration with the Finance Manager Administration Manage office inventory and fixed asset registry, maintain and regularly update in coordination with the logistics department/procurement focal point. File financial and program documents, including accurate filing of staff records Responsible for filing all relevant financial documents (receipts, contracts, transfers, bank account info) Assist with the compilation of financial information for stakeholders Maintain verbal and written contact and communication with all the relevant stakeholders ESSENTIAL SKILLS, KNOWLEDGE, AND COMPETENCIES University degree in Finance, Accounting, Business or related fields, CPA level I is an added Advantage. Minimum 2 years of demonstrated working experience in financial management and accounting, ideally in the non-profit sector/UN Agencies Knowledge of accounting principles, procedures and standards, as well as rules and regulations of local taxation and compliance Confident & proficient in the use of MS Office, and advanced Excel proficiency. Experience working with financial systems, ideally in QuickBooks. Analytical, organised, and process-oriented person Team player as well as independent thinker Ability to manage and prioritise a high workload and multiple tasks with tight deadlines Good interpersonal skills to establish strong working relationships with colleagues Fluency in written and spoken English KEY BEHAVIORS Ability and willingness to take instructions.
