Description

We are looking for a detail-oriented and customer-focused Finance Officer Rates to join our Finance team at Gore District Council. This role is ideal for someone who enjoys working with data, problem-solving and delivering excellent customer service while ensuring accuracy and compliance in a fast-paced environment. As our Finance Officer Rates, you will play a key role in maintaining the Council's rating information, supporting ratepayers with enquiries, processing rates transactions and managing the Council's name and address register. Working closely with the Senior Finance Manager and wider Finance team, you will contribute to the effective administration of one of Council's most important functions. * Experience in data entry and administration with a strong focus on accuracy * Excellent customer service and communication skills * Strong computer skills, including Microsoft Word, Excel and Outlook * The ability to manage competing priorities and work independently * A professional, positive and adaptable approach to work * Experience dealing with customers and resolving queries in a calm and respectful manner Applicants must have the right to live and work in New Zealand * Maintaining and updating the Council's rating database * Processing direct debits, rate payments, refunds, transfers and penalty waivers * Managing changes of property ownership and customer information * Providing support for rates rebate applications in line with legislation and Department of Internal Affairs requirements * Monitoring and actioning rate arrears in accordance with Council policy * Providing accurate and timely rating information to customers and stakeholders * Coordinating quarterly rates invoice processing and annual rating communications * Maintaining electronic filing and accurate records of rating documentation * Performing reconciliations and ensuring the integrity of rating transactions * Contributing to continuous improvement of rates processes and procedures * Working with our GIS team managing subdivisions At Gore District Council, we are committed to creating a workplace where people feel valued, supported and empowered to succeed.
