Description

About the job

Role OverviewAn established international digital infrastructure business is seeking a Finance Operations Manager (Order-to-Cash) to build and lead the operating model that converts approved commercial commitments into billing readiness, revenue recognition inputs, cash visibility and finance-owned execution reporting.

Operating at the intersection of Commercial Finance, Accounting Operations, Treasury, Legal, Sales, Customer Success and Infrastructure Deployment, this is a business-critical role responsible for ensuring commercial commitments translate into invoice-related milestones, revenue-recognisable outputs and collectable cash.

Working closely with Accounting Operations, which retains ownership of billing execution, technical revenue recognition and accounting controls, you will coordinate the cross-functional revenue execution process. The role offers regular exposure to senior Finance and Operations leadership, with responsibility for establishing the operating cadence that provides clear visibility over billing readiness, liquidity-critical customer cash, delivery-related blockers, SLA and performance credit exposure, and unresolved execution risks.

  • Key ResponsibilitiesCommercial-to-Cash Operating ModelBuild and operate the Commercial-to-Cash model, from approved commercial commitments through billing readiness, revenue recognition inputs, cash visibility and execution reporting.
  • Establish the contract-to-finance handoff process, defining minimum data standards, source hierarchies, ownership, turnaround expectations and escalation routes.
  • Lead the weekly Commercial-to-Cash review, ensuring blockers affecting billing, revenue recognition, cash collection, customer finance onboarding and acceptance milestones are visible, assigned and escalated.
  • Report regularly to senior Finance and Operations leadership on signed deal readiness, billing blockers, liquidity-critical cash timing, execution risks and required escalations.
  • Develop practical dashboards, trackers and control routines that deliver immediate visibility while establishing scalable operating discipline.

  • Contract Handoffs, Finance Readiness and Revenue ExecutionTranslate signed contracts, order forms and amendments into finance-ready billing milestones, revenue recognition inputs and cash timing assumptions.
  • Identify and monitor billing triggers, acceptance dependencies, purchase order and customer portal requirements, payment terms, termination windows, service credits, delay penalties and performance credits.
  • Coordinate with Customer Success, Commercial Operations and other onboarding owners to ensure customer finance onboarding requirements are completed on time.
  • Partner with Accounting Operations on invoice issuance, technical revenue recognition assessments and related controls; Treasury on cash timing; and Legal on contractual terms affecting Finance execution.
  • Maintain a complete, controlled and auditable view of contractual commitments, billing readiness, revenue recognition requirements and expected cash receipts.

  • Cash, Liquidity, Risk Exposure and Executive ReportingOwn the commercial-to-cash dashboard, invoice milestone tracker and open blocker log.
  • Monitor advance and prepayment billing, recurring billing, cash due, overdue or disputed balances, and revenue or cash at risk.
  • Drive execution visibility over material advance and prepayment invoices, tracking contractual triggers, purchase order and portal readiness, invoice issuance, due dates, disputes and collection risks.
  • Provide Treasury, FP&A and senior Finance leadership with reliable visibility over liquidity-critical customer cash timing.
  • Quantify and escalate financial exposure arising from delay penalties, performance credits, service credits, acceptance slippage and SLA obligations.
  • Deliver monthly executive reporting on signed deal readiness, billing blockers, cash exposure, SLA and service credit exposure, and unresolved execution risks.

  • Controls and Continuous ImprovementMaintain audit-ready evidence of contract handoffs, billing trigger evidence, approval status, blocker ownership and unresolved issues.
  • Feed execution learnings into Commercial Finance, FP&A, Accounting Operations and governance processes to improve pricing, contractual terms, approval gates and operating controls.
  • Strengthen the consistency, transparency and scalability of finance execution processes across the business.

  • Capacity-to-Revenue ConversionLink contracted or allocated capacity to customer commitments, revenue phasing, billing readiness and cash timing.
  • Partner with Commercial Finance to ensure capacity-to-revenue conversion reflects approved economics, customer commitments and opportunity-cost decisions.
  • Work with Infrastructure and Deployment teams to maintain visibility over committed capacity status, expected go-live timing, acceptance milestones and billing readiness.
  • Track capacity-to-revenue conversion, identifying where allocated or contracted capacity is not yet generating billable activity, recognisable revenue or cash.
  • Escalate capacity conversion blockers that delay revenue conversion, customer cash collection or forecast delivery.

  • Candidate experience7-10 years' experience in Finance Operations, Order-to-Cash, Revenue Finance, Billing Operations, Commercial Operations, Deal Desk Operations or Finance Transformation within complex B2B environments.
  • Proven experience designing and implementing operating models, controls and cross-functional operating cadences, beyond simply maintaining trackers and reporting.
  • Strong understanding of complex contracts, billing triggers, acceptance milestones, payment terms, revenue recognition inputs and cash timing.
  • Hands-on ability to develop practical dashboards, trackers and escalation tools while establishing scalable processes and controls.
  • Experience supporting high-value advance billing, complex invoice milestones or liquidity-critical cash collection processes is preferred.
  • Experience building or operating SOX/ICFR-ready and audit-ready controls across order-to-cash, revenue operations, billing or finance transformation is preferred.
  • Confidence and sound judgement when challenging and influencing stakeholders across Sales, Legal, Accounting Operations, Treasury, Deployment and senior leadership.
  • Comfortable operating in a high-growth, ambiguous environment where processes and controls are still being established.
  • Experience in digital infrastructure, cloud services, enterprise technology, telecommunications or other capital-intensive B2B contracting environments is preferred.
