Department Operations

The Operation teams at Shopee covers the operational end-to-end process, from when the buyer searches for a product listed on the Shopee platform, to the moment the buyer receives the products. The team analyses and monitors operational KPIs across the region and conducts root cause analysis when operation performance fluctuates. The Operations team comprises Customer Service, Payment, Listings, Warehouse, Logistics, Seller Operations and Fraud.
JOB DESCRIPTION:
- Overseeing the entire Finance Operation team and to lead a team of 6-8 individuals ensuring that the standards of reporting and reconciliation is met.
- Work closely with the Finance team to ensure accurate financial reporting.
- Able to analyze results and explain the variances to solve daily payment issues creatively.
- Responsible for preparing reports in a timely and accurate manner. Past experience in regulatory report submission is advantageous. (ie. BNM monthly and quarterly reports).
- Work with the business functions to maintain the payments pipeline, managing day-to-day responsibilities such as monitoring & researching the cause of payment declines, daily reconciling of payment processing statements for high volume transactions and monthly assessments of payment card fees.
- Partner with Product and Technical teams to solve problems, identify trends and opportunities for payments and payment channel integration optimization and implement cost savings initiatives. To continuously improve the financial and accounting process and controls in the team.
- Track, analyze, influence, and communicate key metrics to influence decisions and new payments initiatives.
- Lead and/or actively participate in regionally or locally driven initiatives for process improvements relating to payment channel reconciliation.
- People management & develop proper workforce management.
- To perform any other ad-hoc tasks or projects as may be assigned from time to time.
REQUIREMENTS:
- Minimum 4-7 years working experience preferably has a background in E-wallet or Fintech industry.
- Diploma or Bachelor Degree in Accounting, Finance or other relevant fields.
- Proficient in Microsoft Excel (e.g. Pivot Tables, Vlookups). Advanced Excel skills with knowledge of SQL and Power Query (plus).
- Previous experience in payments a must.
- Able to drive and implement ideas to present findings in a fast-paced environment
- Excellent communication skills in email, face-to-face conversation, presentation skills and remote discussion.
- Ability to work well under pressure, detail oriented and has strong logical and critical thinking to solve problems.
- Proactive and a good team player with a positive attitude and eagerness to learn.
