KEY ACCOUNTABILITIES

  • Leads financial management policy reviews, revamps, training, and communication including strategies to ensure policy maintenance and adherence.
  • Leads or participates on cross functional project teams to develop and implement regulatory

finance management policy initiatives

  • Conducts financial management policy research activities by analyzing and reviewing appropriate data sources including legislation, regulations and other directives or policies to develop policy proposals, discussion papers, legislation and draft/revise policies
  • Establishes and maintains a network of ongoing contacts with key stakeholders in other agencies/ministries to deal with accounting policy and standards related issues.
  • Develops and maintains relationships with a variety of internal and external stakeholders
  • Provides information and advice to staff, senior management and industry stakeholders on LAO financial management policy.
  • Prepares and presents a range of materials (e.g. briefing material, position papers) to senior decision makers
  • Keeps on top of changing legislation/regulations/directives

REQUIRED SKILLS & EXPERIENCE

  • Undergraduate degree in business, economics, or quantitative discipline
  • Demonstrated knowledge of financial and accounting theories, principles and practices for public sector organizations, to lead the development and implementation of the finance management policy framework
  • 3 to 5 years in a financial and quantitative analysis environment in an intermediate or large organization
  • Expertise in project management principles and methodologies to manage the delivery of program plans, initiatives and goals.
  • Experience in financial management policy analysis, planning and development.
  • Analytical and problem solving skills to produce findings and recommendations for finance management policy updates/alternatives
  • Expertise in interpreting and applying knowledge of regulations/legislation/directives to provide financial management policy advice
