We help children stay safe, families remain together, and newcomers navigate life in New York City. While our doors are open to all, AAFSC has expertise in serving Arab, Middle Eastern, North African, Muslim, and South Asian communities. JOB SUMMARY: The Grant Manager provides organization-wide support for the Arab American Family Support Center’s grants & revenue contracts portfolio, including financial reporting, vouchering, budgeting, variance reports and audit activities. The Grant Manager will liaise closely with internal staff as well as work with external funders, and auditors in a professional, organized and confidential manner. Critical to success in the role, the Grant Manager must effectively balance compliance requirements and program needs. A successful Grant Manager must be able to learn new systems quickly, solve problems creatively, communicate effectively with individuals at all levels of financial literacy, and self-manage multiple priorities comfortably. A commitment to immigrant, refugee, and low-income communities is essential for this role. PRIMARY DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES Responsibilities: Develop, implement, and maintain effective financial systems and processes to support grant management and reporting. Ensure accurate and timely processing of all grant-related financial transactions. Monitor grant expenditures to ensure alignment with approved budgets, funding agreements, and regulatory requirements. Prepare and post journal entries; analyze general ledger activity Review and approve accounts payable vouchers for assigned grant-funded programs. Collaborate with Development team and program staff to resolve budgeting, reporting, and compliance issues. Budgeting & Reporting Prepare, manage, and revise grant budgets in collaboration with program managers. Generate accurate and timely financial reports for grantors in accordance with funding requirements. Compliance & Audit Ensure compliance with all applicable federal, state, and local and private grant regulations. Prepare for and support internal and external audits, including the provision of documentation, schedules, and explanations. Maintain complete and well-organized records of all grant-related financial activity. Collaboration & Communication Work closely with program managers and internal stakeholders to provide financial insight and support for grant-funded initiatives. Communicate effectively with grantors regarding financial status, reporting requirements, and compliance matters. Train and support staff on grant management policies, procedures, and best practices. Analysis & Continuous Improvement Prepare and submit budgets, invoices, schedules, and workpapers in accordance with funder guidelines and deadlines. Analyze grant financial data to identify trends, variances, and opportunities for improvement. Recommend and implement enhancements to financial management and reporting processes. Stay current on grant accounting standards, regulatory updates, and industry best practices. Perform other related duties as assigned to support organizational goals. BACKGROUND AND POSITION REQUIREMENTS Bachelor’s degree in accounting, Finance, or a related field. Minimum of three (3) years of accounting experience, with a strong focus on grants management. Prior fiscal experience with NYC, NYS, federal, and private grants and contracts. Thorough knowledge of GAAP and grant accounting principles. Prior experience supporting funders and agency audits. Advanced proficiency in Microsoft Excel and Word, accounting systems, and standard workplace software. Sage Intacct experience highly desirable. Strong analytical skills with the ability to assess complex fiscal scenarios and deliver timely insights. Detail-oriented with excellent written and verbal communication skills.
