Description:
This position can be performed 100% remotely anywhere in Colorado or in the Mountain Time Zone of the United States.
Mountain Valley Transit (MVT) is seeking a professional Finance Specialist with a passion for financial management supporting an organization dedicated to serving the local community. The successful candidate will have a key role in the execution of Grant Management, Medical billing and processing, and collaboration with the Executive Director on financial planning and execution. The incumbent will also be involved in process improvement initiatives and supporting the expansion of the organization.
ADDITIONAL POSITION REQUIREMENTS
- Periodically and as requested, research and purchase supplies and equipment, and present options to management for office supplies, phones, computers, and cleaning supplies for vehicles and the office.
- Participate in all assigned and scheduled staff and individual meetings, actively contributing and adding value to the topic(s) discussed.
- When requested provide support for any marketing programs or initiatives.
- Coordinate annual review and completion of vehicle registrations.
- Serve as primary liaison for building and technology support resolution such as telephones, internet, and utilities.
- Carries out duties in compliance with all federal and state regulations and guidelines.
- Successfully completes regulatory and job training requirements.
- Complies with all company and site policies and procedures.
- Remains current in profession and industry trends.
- Makes a positive contribution as demonstrated by: making suggestions for improvement and learning new skills, procedures and processes.
- Is available for other duties as required.
- Is available for overtime as needed.
QUALIFICATIONS: EDUCATION AND/OR EXPERIENCE
- High School Diploma or GED.
- Three (3) years of financial experience in a professional environment to include AP/AR/Reconciliation and Reporting.
- Three (3) years of experience with Grant financial management.
- Three (3) years of customer service experience.
- Three (3) years of experience performing financial duties using QuickBooks.
- One (1) year of experience and direct responsibility for the financial coordination of Medicaid billing and processing.
LANGUAGE SKILLS
- Read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and standard operating procedure manuals.
- Read, write, and analyze financial records and statements, invoices, reports, and bank records.
OTHER SKILLS, ABILITIES OR QUALIFICATIONS
- Demonstrated experience executing the full life cycle of Medicaid billing.
- Familiar with the Transit industry.
- Demonstrated experience managing multiple funding sources to include state, federal, and other funding sources.
- Demonstrated competence with acceptable financial practices for AP / AR / Reporting and financial report preparation.
- Computer skills:
- Work and be proficient with Microsoft Suite including Word, Excel, and Outlook.
- Work and be proficient with QuickBooks, Gusto, and Google Workspace.
- Ability to perform repetitive tasks while maintaining speed of work and attention to detail without loss to production.
- Ability to work with others in a team environment.

Responsibilities:
GENERAL PURPOSE OF JOB
Under minimum supervision the incumbent performs financial and administrative tasks and activities to support the success of Mountain Valley Transit. Incumbent is also responsible for various activities including but not limited to customer service, records management, administrative support to the Executive Director, accounts payable, accounts receivable, financial reporting and reimbursement request preparation.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES include the following. Other duties may be assigned.
- Preparation and post internal approval submission of monthly CDOT reimbursement request in a timely and accurate manner.
- Access, coordinate, and use the Colorado Transit and Rail Awards Management System (COTRAMS) platform for completing the CDOT submissions, to manage changes and complete data updates.
- Responsible for accurate and efficient preparation, review, processing, and reporting of Mountain Valley Transit financials to include accounts payable, accounts receivable, account reconciliations, expense management, and system management of QuickBooks.
- Responsible for the full cycle processing of Medicaid billing and reporting to include, but not limited to preparation, processing, audits, deposits, and recordkeeping.
- Timely execution of payroll related payments to FAMLI and CO Secure Savings accounts.
- Prepare monthly financial reporting to include but not limited to Balance Sheet, Profit and Loss Statement, and other ad-hoc reports requested by the Executive Director.
- Plan for, coordinate, and execute the annual Colorado Gives Fundraising campaign for Mountain Valley Transit.
- Responsible for providing timely customer service to customers and visitors to Mountain Valley Transit.
- Responsible for timely and efficient inbound and outbound communication via email and telephone.
- Perform timely and accurate review, data entry, analysis, and audit of driver trip sheets.
- Record management to include any scanning, copying, and filing in accordance with established procedures and practices.
- Responsible for ensuring licensure and insurance requirements for all drivers are in compliance by collaborating with the workforce and the Executive Director.
- Provide a variety of program reports and analysis in a timely, accurate, and efficient manner in accordance with established schedules to the Executive Director.
- Perform necessary data capture and data entry of vehicle maintenance records.
- Respond in a timely manner to all requests from the Board of Directors.
