About the Role

Acclime is seeking a Financial Accountant to join our Melbourne team with a focus on owning the month-end close process, ensuring financial data is accurate, complete and ready for reporting.

You will act as the link between transactional finance and reporting, taking ownership of financial integrity and providing clear, practical insights to internal stakeholders. While the role is primarily review and oversight focused, you will be comfortable being hands-on where required.

What you will be doing?

Month-End Close

  • Own the end-to-end month-end process
  • Prepare and review balance sheet reconciliations, journals and adjustments (including accruals, prepayments, loans and provisions)
  • Prepare monthly management accounts and reporting packs, including P&L variance analysis against budget/forecast
  • Provide clear, practical commentary on key movements, risks and issues to finance leadership

Business Partnering

  • Partner with department leads on performance, queries and variance explanations
  • Support budgeting and forecasting cycles with accurate, timely inputs
  • Translate financial data into practical insight for non-finance stakeholders across the business

Team Coordination & Review

  • Review work completed by junior or offshore team members, providing guidance and feedback.
  • Drive efficient workflows and support delegation of transactional work where appropriate
  • Support review coverage alongside the Senior Financial Accountant, helping maintain continuity across the team

Reporting & Compliance

  • Support preparation of statutory accounts and coordination with external auditors and tax advisors
  • Ensure financial records are maintained in line with Australian accounting standards and internal controls

Hands-On Support

  • Support process improvements and system enhancements
  • Support clean-ups, transitions and process documentation as the finance function scales

What are we looking for?

Essential

  • 5+ years’ experience in accounting role within an internal finance function
  • A bachelor’s degree in accounting, finance or a related field.
  • Strong experience owning month-end close and balance sheet reconciliations end-to-end
  • Strong understanding of accounting principles, practices and procedures.
  • Advanced Xero and strong Excel skills
  • Effective communication and interpersonal skills
  • Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills.
  • High attention to detail and strong ownership mindset

Desirable

  • CA/CPA (completed or in progress)
  • Experience in a medium-sized business or within a broader corporate finance team
  • Exposure to multi-entity, group consolidation or listed-entity reporting environments
  • Experience supporting budgeting, forecasting or FP&A processes
  • Experience in a multinational or cross-cultural work environment
  • Experience working with offshore teams
  • Exposure to multi-entity or listed-entity reporting environments

What makes this role a winner:

  • Melbourne-based with flexible working
  • Collaborative, high-performing team
  • Career growth opportunities
  • Additional leave including Birthday Leave and Wellness Day
