About the role

Wea re looking for an experienced Financial Accountant role with a growing property development firm in north-west Sydney. This is a contract role for three days per week, with the opportunity to become a permanent member of the team in the future.

The scope of the role is broad and requires involvement across day-to-day accounting, month-end, reporting, payroll, reconciliations, and tax compliance for the operating business and the projects. As part of a small team, you will work closely with the Founder and development team, providing accurate and timely financial information while supporting the ongoing improvement of finance processes and systems.

Key responsibilities

• Managing day-to-day accounting functions
• Preparing month-end reconciliations, reporting and financial information
• Preparing and posting General Ledger journals
• Managing banking and monthly bank reconciliations
• Preparing monthly and quarterly reporting packs for Projects
• Processing payroll and reconciling payroll journals
• Assisting with Accounts Payable and payment processes
• Assisting with sales commission calculations
• Supporting tax and audit requirements
• Supporting statutory financial statements and audit schedules

About you

• 4+ years' experience in an all-round Financial Accounting role
• Tertiary qualifications in Accounting - essential
• Strong experience using Xero
• Solid understanding of month-end processes and financial reporting
• Experience with GST and Australian tax compliance
• Strong Excel skills
• Good understanding of intercompany accounting and financial processes
• Excellent attention to detail and accuracy
• Strong organisational and time management skills
• Ability to manage competing priorities and meet deadlines
