We are seeking a detail-oriented and commercially minded Financial Accountant to join our finance team in Cape Town CBD. Operating within a fast-paced online gaming environment, the successful candidate will play a key role in ensuring the accuracy and integrity of financial records, supporting month-end reporting, managing reconciliations, and assisting with audit and tax requirements. This position offers a hybrid working model and the opportunity to collaborate closely with the Payments Manager and Treasury Accountant to support the company's financial operations and growth objectives. Job Description Key Responsibilities Financial Reporting & Accounting Prepare and process monthly journal entries, accruals, and adjustments. Assist with the preparation of monthly management accounts and supporting schedules. Perform detailed variance analysis and provide commentary on financial performance. Maintain accurate general ledger records and ensure compliance with accounting standards and company policies. Support month-end and year-end close processes. Banking, Treasury & Payments Manage daily banking activities and maintain banking relationships. Prepare and review daily, weekly, and monthly bank reconciliations. Load and process supplier, operational, and ad hoc payments in accordance with company controls and approval frameworks. Monitor cash balances and support cash flow management activities. Work closely with the Payments Manager and Treasury Accountant to ensure the accuracy and completeness of financial transactions. Assist with treasury reporting and banking administration. Accounts Receivable & Daily Operations Manage accounts receivable processes and follow up on outstanding balances. Reconcile customer accounts and resolve discrepancies. Monitor and reconcile daily customer withdrawals, ensuring accuracy, completeness, and timely processing. Investigate payment-related queries and exceptions. Supplier Management & Reconciliations Maintain supplier records and relationships. Perform monthly supplier reconciliations and resolve outstanding items. Review supplier statements and ensure timely processing of invoices and payments. Assist with supplier onboarding and compliance documentation. Support the management of key supplier relationships and payment schedules. Contract Management Maintain and administer supplier and service provider contracts. Monitor contract renewals, obligations, and commercial terms. Assist with contract-related financial reporting and analysis. Tax & Compliance Prepare tax reconciliations and supporting schedules. Assist with VAT and other statutory submissions. Ensure compliance with relevant tax legislation and internal controls. Support regulatory compliance requirements applicable to the online gaming industry. Audit Support Prepare audit schedules, reconciliations, and supporting documentation. Liaise with internal and external auditors during audit engagements. Ensure financial records are maintained in an audit-ready state. Assist in implementing recommendations arising from audit findings. Qualifications Bachelor's Degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field. Completed SAIPA, SAICA, or equivalent articles advantageous. Professional accounting qualification or progress toward one is beneficial. Experience 3–5 years' experience in a Financial Accountant or similar role. Proven experience with bank reconciliations, supplier reconciliations, payment processing, and management accounts. Experience in accounts receivable, treasury support, audit preparation, and tax reconciliations. Exposure to online gaming, fintech, e-commerce, technology, or other high-volume transaction environments is advantageous. Technical Skills Strong understanding of accounting principles and financial reporting. Experience with ERP/accounting systems and online banking platforms. Advanced Microsoft Excel skills. Strong reconciliation, analytical, and reporting capabilities. Personal Attributes Excellent attention to detail and high levels of accuracy. Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
