Description

Description The Financial Accountant plays a key role in maintaining the financial integrity of multiple properties by managing day-to-day accounting operations. This role is responsible for monitoring accounts payable and receivable, performing reconciliations, posting journal entries, and preparing accurate and timely financial statements. The ideal candidate is detail-oriented, organized, and has strong analytical skills including excel proficiency, with the ability to collaborate effectively with Accounting peers, Asset Managers, and Property Managers and communicate financial information clearly. Key Responsibilities Perform monthly bank reconciliations and process deposit receipts Collaborate with Property Managers to ensure accurate financial reporting Monitor revenue and expense activity, identifying and correcting discrepancies Post general ledger journal entries and maintain supporting documentation Reconcile account balances to supporting schedules Prepare and deliver monthly financial statements for multiple properties Review and calculate Common Area Maintenance (CAM) reconciliations Review and enter leases, calculate commercial tenant billing Communicate financial statement results to property owners Prepare and submit draw requests in accordance with funding guidelines Requirements Skills and Qualifications Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field 1-2 years of experience in accounting, preferably in property management or real estate Experience preparing financial statements Strong understanding of GAAP and accounting principles Proficient in accounting software and solid Microsoft Excel skills Excellent attention to detail and organizational skills Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities and critical thinking Effective written and verbal communication skills Ability to manage multiple priorities and meet deadlines Preferred Qualifications Experience with Yardi property management software is a plus Familiarity with real estate accounting Working Conditions Standard office environment, open cubicles, quiet to moderate noise levels Hybrid work environment, minimum 3 days in office at Brookfield HQ Why Join Us?
