Description
Purpose of the role The Financial Accountant is responsible for managing and overseeing financial reporting, accounting operations, and ensuring compliance with statutory requirements. The role involves preparing accurate financial statements, managing budgets, and supporting decision-making through timely financial analysis. Key Responsibilities •Monitor cash flow, manage bank reconciliations, and oversee petty cash and treasury operations. •Manage the full cycle of asset accounting. •Implement and maintain internal controls to safeguard company assets and ensure compliance with financial policies. •Prepare monthly, quarterly, and annual financial statements in compliance with IFRS and local regulations. •Oversee supplier accounting processes •Maintain and update the Fixed Asset Register ensuring completeness, accuracy, and proper classification. •Maintain and reconcile general ledger accounts, including accounts payable, accounts receivable, and payroll. •Monitor variances between forecasted and actual cashflows and recommend corrective actions. •Support internal and external audits by providing necessary documentation and explanations. •Coordinate with the management to ensure adequate liquidity for operational and capital requirements. •Assist in budget preparation, financial planning, and variance analysis. •Prepare financial reports and management reports to support business decision-making. •Collaborate with other departments to ensure accurate and timely financial information. •Ensure timely filing of statutory returns and other regulatory submissions. Knowledge & Experience •Located or willingness to relocate to Mtwara •Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field. •Professional accounting qualification (CPA or equivalent) is highly desirable. •Minimum of 3–5 years of relevant experience, preferably in the manufacturing sector. •Strong knowledge of accounting principles, taxation, and statutory compliance. •Experience with accounting software.
