About the role: As a Financial Accountant at RACQ, you’ll play a key role in supporting the Group Financial Control Team by managing financial transactions, maintaining the general ledger and subledger systems, and ensuring the delivery of accurate and compliant financial reports for both internal and statutory purposes. You’ll help safeguard the quality of financial information that drives timely, informed decision making, while ensuring all transactions meet Australian Accounting Standards and RACQ policies. This role is also responsible for reviewing and improving financial processes and reporting systems to uphold excellence in financial recordkeeping. This role is offered as a full-time, 12-month fixed term contract. Key responsibilities: Support the Group Finance Manager and Group Financial Control Team with high quality operational accounting and strong stakeholder collaboration across RACQ. Deliver accurate financial transactions, reconciliations, and month end processes aligned with Australian Accounting Standards, RACQ policies, and internal controls. Maintain the integrity of the general ledger and subledgers through timely journals, balance sheet reconciliations, and issue escalation when required. Drive ongoing improvements, automation, and updates to financial processes, policies, procedures, and documentation. Provide coaching and mentoring to junior finance team members while contributing to key tasks, projects, and broader finance support across the RACQ Group. Ensure compliance with health, safety, risk, and reporting obligations while collaborating effectively with internal stakeholders. About you: Bachelor’s degree in accounting or a related field, with an accounting major. 3–5 years’ experience in a financial accounting role, including mentoring Assistant Accountants and Reconciliation Officers. Strong knowledge and application of Australian Accounting Standards, for complex organisations, and experience using ERP systems in mid to large businesses. High financial literacy with advanced Excel skills, strong problem-solving ability, and the capacity to analyse and present large volumes of financial data accurately. Ability to adapt to new systems, manage multiple priorities, meet deadlines, and communicate effectively with stakeholders. CPA or CA qualification Why join RACQ?
