MUST HAVE STRONG FINANCIAL ACCOUNTING KNOWLEDGE, INCLUDING MONTH-END CLOSE WITH AT LEAST 3+ YEARS OF RELEVANT EXPERIENCE

Training within an Audit role (Big 4 or Mid-Tier) will be favourable but not essential
Advanced Excel skills and proficiency in accounting software (SAP preferred)
Excellent analytical, problem-solving, and communication abilities
A proactive, team-oriented mindset with a passion for retail
Team orientated and with willingness to initiate continuous improvement
Proactive and capable of investigating anomalies as they arise

Responsibilities

As a Financial Accountant at Spotlight Retail Group, you’ll play a crucial role in ensuring the accuracy and timeliness of our financial reporting. Your responsibilities will include:
Driving Month-End Close: Overseeing the timely and efficient completion of month-end close processes.
Maintaining Financial Integrity: Ensuring the accuracy and integrity of the chart of accounts and trial balance through the preparation of monthly and ad-hoc general journals.
Reconciling Financial Positions: Preparing and reviewing balance sheet reconciliations to identify and resolve discrepancies.
Delivering Financial Insights: Preparing insightful month-end close reports to inform strategic decision-making.
Collaborating with Auditors: Liaising with external auditors to facilitate smooth audits and ensure compliance.
Driving Process Improvement: Identifying opportunities to streamline financial processes and increase efficiency.
Supporting Strategic Initiatives: Contributing to ad-hoc projects and initiatives that support the company’s growth and financial goals.
